Official New Avengers Discussion Thread!

Ugh? That **** was hilarious!

Yeah, I forgot she had a crush on Pete in Alias until he unmasked. And I loved how Luke was like, "In love?!"

I miss the old New York sense of humor in Marvel stories. 'Coma Girl'? That's the best Bendis could write for a Spidey joke? It's too west coast.

I'll knock Bendis for a lot of stuff...but overrall he has always written a dang good spidey, at least I have always thought so.

Man, that was only about a year ago, wasn't it? Now Ares is happily slaying junk left and right on the government's payroll and his kid got drafted into Nick Fury's team, and neither of them really seem to care about the other.

They're immortal, right? They've got time to catch up.

Ares is. Not sure about Alex. We still don't know who the kid's mom is (or why his hair changed color, but that's my personal pet peeve).

If you had read AliAs, you would have known that Jessica had a crush on puny Parker years ago, so it only made sense that she reacted that way...

:yay:

I would have found it just as stupid if I had read it in Alias too.

I read Alias and had no memory of that. :p

I didn't really think about it but I remembered once I saw Jessica Jones reaction to Parker.

I remembered it and the only question I have is why didn't this conversation happen before when pete unmasked to the whole world?

Origin

Introduced in the Marvel Universe as a retcon character, Midtown High student Jessica Campbell was present when Peter Parker was bitten by the irradiated spider that gave him his powers. She had a crush on him, and had just plucked up the courage to speak to him when he was distracted by the bite. She also had a celebrity crush on teen heart-throb Johnny Storm.

Soon thereafter, Jessica was riding in a car with her family when they collided with a military convoy carrying radioactive chemicals. Her family was killed and, after spending several months in a coma, she was placed in foster care and adopted by the Jones family. Months later she awoke, stirred by the first coming of Galactus outside her hospital room.

Jessica later discovered that the radioactive materials she was exposed to in the accident had granted her super-strength, limited invulnerability, and flight (which she never fully mastered). The Joneses re-enrolled Jessica at Midtown High, where she was ostracized by her classmates, especially Flash Thompson. Peter Parker (who had since become Spider-Man) sensed in Jessica a kindred spirit — someone who had also lost family due to a tragic circumstance. Jessica mistook his kind attention and lashed out at him, believing he was merely pitying her. At that time she found out she had super-powers.

you contribute nothing all you can say is its stupid, but you're talking about Bendis so you're not wrong.

Because it simply IS stupid. Explain to me how it's "great storytelling" to have everyone in the marvel u be tied to Peter Parker?

Also Bendis isn't always the greatest writer or God's gift to comics. He has as many duds as any other writer in the industy.

I always dug that about her. And my opinion trumps both of yours. :o

That was the highlight of Alias and single best page in comic book history past, present and future :woot:

did you even read what i said?

Anybody else feel like the Hood's supposedly amazing power level is being undercut a bit by the fact that he still looks like a goofy muppet mouth in a cape with guns?

Also, I wonder if Bachalo deliberately put Billy in a red cloak thingamajig to imply that he's sort of the Hood's direct opposite: another awesomely powerful young magic-user who happened to choose the path of good.
