Official: Prince of Persia Next-Gen Thread

Even the original PoP game was a historical homage to the rise of King Darius. I very strongly disagree that it "shouldn't" be based on history. It's called Prince of Persia. You can't just take some ambiguous eastern culture, add a mystical twist to it and call it "Persian". Frankly, it's insulting. Every PoP game has had it's plot serve as an homage to some sort of historical event/person/story. "
Except they can and they did and I absolutely loved it. AC is VERY rooted in history. The characters, plots, backdrop, locales, etc....its fiction but its like taking this created character and throwing him into our real life past. Thats just not something PoP should do. You might as well just call it the next AC with a new ancestor of Ezio. Attaching the PoP to something like that would be a bad move IMO

Really all I want is a follow up to the 2008 game, still my favorite in the franchise.

You're a condescending one, aren't ya? :whatever:
PoP has being adopting elements of Persian history and mythology since its inception, so NO they haven't done it yet for you to love. The only thing close to it is this Prince of Egypt concept they've got going. Persian mythology and history is so diverse. Every PoP game has taken from it, (witch tremendous liberties of course, which is fine) and we've gotten some significantly different games. Whether the original trilogy, the SOT trilogy + FS or PoP 2008.

To make the guy EGYPTIAN though!? Culturally, that's not even the same thing!

Yeah that game was awesome. If they just changed a few things around (like adding multiple enemies to combat - NOT like Forgotten Sands though. I mean with different animations, but multi-thug combat), the sequel could have been incredible!

Prince of Persia 2008 wasnt infused with real life historical figures like the Assasins Creed series was nor was it plot heavily influenced on an actual historical event. It told an ambiguous made up tale in an unnamed Persian city-state with an even looser interpretation of ancient Persian culture than the SoT trilogy. It wasnt approached as a history lesson of real life history as what is the case for the AC series

PoP took elements of Aladdin (from 1001 Nights - A Persian Storybook), and the whole conflict with Ormazd, Ahriman etc was from Persian Mythology. The game's main setting was very heavily based on Parsa and Pasargad - right down to the architecture and abandoned columns (obviously liberties were taken). Even the aqueducts are historically significant to the rule of Cyrus and Pasargadea.

Trust me, it has strong Persian influence. This new game is Egyptian.

EDIT: Oh, and Elika speaks old Persian, and the names of the characters (including Elika) are Persian names.
