Saturday. Tomorrow, if my self-control falls apart before then...

OMG, it's ridiculous!! :awesome:

I may get to see it twice before you and JP do which is the sweet consolation prize for you seeing it so much earlier heh heh hehhhh >:D

Just saw the movie here in Italy. The best X-Men movie from X-Men 2.
Awesome.

Most likely seeing this tonight before I go out of town to the Mountains for the Weekend. Can't Wait.

I sat next to James and Hugh on a train :oldrazz:
Oh I will enjoy again, especially Hugh's arrival in the 70's haha

Ok I seen the movie, I liked it, bit disappointed there wasn't abit more of a powerful conclusion with magneto in the 70s which seemed abit cut short but other then that the story was emotional, well told and well acted.

I noticed A lot of it was cut it seems, a lot of pictures released or trailer and tv spot scenes didn't make it in the film, Logan talking to mystique or beast down on the floor with mystique wasn't anywhere to be seen

Some points I liked and some I didn't

*Altered future Kelsey grammar beast look abit silly, I don't know what it was but he just didn't look right, he sure didn't look like X3 beast like I was expecting, there was laughs in the audience when he walked by

*What the hell was with Scott's glasses, they also looked silly, I gather they were meant to be futuristic but they just looked weird and unflattering

* I liked magneto and the train, the way pulls himself on the train as if he is jumping just looked cool, give me more of that in apocalypse

*I liked the call backs which were very respectful

*It did feel like it was hinting to apocalypse with young Charles saying one day they will all come together again

*the future action was quite short! infact there wasn't that much action as people made out or thought there would be, most of it was at the start of the film I believe

The Past sentinels looked awesome in motion but were underused in the end

I'd give it an 8/10

I can empathise with some of your points.

Great though it was to see Kelsey-Beast, he didn't look as good as in X3 and I noticed he had really bloodshot eyes.

I'd have preferred more future, but I don't have an issue with it as such as they clearly said it was 70% past, 30% future.

Also, with the mutants they had in the past, the Sentinels didn't really have many possible targets/opponents. (Even Havok, Ink, Toad and Spyke or whoever it was just vanished from the story).

Let's come out and say it...Kelsey Grammar's Beast make-up was laughable.

Worse than Beast in First Class?

[BLACKOUT]It looked like no planning had gone into it, like Grammar just turned up on set and they slapped some paint and fur on his face for thirty seconds. [/BLACKOUT]

Also...
Cyclops new glasses are weird and lame.

Days of Future Past could just as well be called 'Bryan Singer reclaims the X-Men'.

For a start, he brings back the theme tune from X2. That's just a hint that this may be the seventh movie, but it's really his X-Men 3. Secondly - and this surprised me - Singer shows the Weapon X footage from X2, not X-Men: Origins. It's a big middle finger to that movie - which he then wipes from continuity completely, and sets it up so he can do Weapon X again himself if he wants.

And then Scott and Jean are back, in a middle finger to The Last Stand.

So basically everything is as Singer left it in X2, he's removed the films he wasn't involved in, and reclaimed his authorship.

Intrestingly, he even changes Magneto's costume from the comicy, colourful design of First Class, to something more resembling Ian McKellen's X2 costume.

This movie is literally Singer saying, "X-Men is mine!"

And all the better for it.

The X-Men trilogy: X-Men, X2, Days of Future Past, with First Class as a prelude.

I love this. "X-Men is mine." Could you argue that Singer is the equivalent to George Lucas to this franchise?

6 more hours to go.

It's genuinely very much like Singer grabs his two X-Men films and puts them back on top of the pile, and knocks the others either aside (First Class) or on the floor (The Last Stand, Origins).

Just saw that we had a thread for reviews when we see the movie hahaha I wrote this one in official discussion but deleted it xD

So ...

First I must say I was so pumped and intense watching this movie that my muscles hurt when the movie finished. Such a rollercoaster ride of a movie.

There are few little remarks but I will write them later.

Highlights :
- James Mcavoy : amazing acting and listen when I say those clips didn't do justice. If Fc was Michaels Magneto movie this one was all about James.
- Jennifer Lawrence : well played transition from FC Mystique to OT mystique but still staying somewhere in the middle
- Opening scene is what I expected and what I got ... pure amazement.
- Brian Singer
- Simon Kinberg redeem himself for bad writing
- The movie proved that many characters can have their own highlight and lead the move instead of just one (cough* X1,2,3 - Wolverine cough*)
- Special effects
- Storm - finally Brian did it right but .... one word minutage
- Those little nudges to previous OT cast movies
- Quicksilver was a highlight to the audience ... Brian hit that good (no pun intended).
- THE ENDING - the most beautiful, well directed, well shoot etc. I was like a little kid when Logan woke up.
- I can say truly this one is one of the best comic book movies to date and I'm not saying because I'm a fan but because it was.

Remarks :
- My boyfriend feel asleep during the movie ... #wanker
- Future scenes should have been longer ... at least 40:60 ... it just felt short when the climax began.
- Also they should have kept Rouge thing ... knowing what I know trough spoilers and after seeing the movie it would not be such a distraction from the main plot but what the hell I know about editing hahaha
- And I know I will be the only one but the after credit scene was MEH ... so unnecessary and not worth waiting for.

I gave it 10 because comparing to all X-men movie this one and X2 are pure 10s.

PS I agree with some questionable makeup in ending scene.

Agreed. MacAvoy was the best of a great cast.

He actually outdid Patrick Stewart in their scene.

I thought it was awesome....Apocalypse and the Four Horsemen-!

True, it's probably only exciting to a comic fan.

Well I'm comic book fan and I expected more.

[BLACKOUT]it just showed that a mutant was responsible for building pyramids in Egypt and that's that. Maybe I expected more so it's on me hahahaha and also it gave me Stargate vibe for some strange reason[/BLACKOUT]

Yeah, but the implications....[BLACKOUT]a mutant built the pyramids? What happened to him? How long have mutants been around?[/BLACKOUT] And so on.

How did he knock First Class aside?

How did he knock First Class aside?

He didn't knock it aside disrespectfully, indeed he builds on it very well.

I mean in the sense that DoFP begins with the theme and credit sequence of X1 and X2, along with the Patrick Stewart voice-over, as well as things like getting rid of Magneto's First Class costume and giving him an one much like the X1 costume.

It steers the franchise right back to Singer's vision, as opposed to Vaughn's poppy, bright First Class.

Magneto is much more like his vengeful X1 incarnation than the First Class version, for instance. We know he has to travel this path of course, but it's telling just how quickly he's got there.

Plus, many of the First Class characters are absent or dead.

We only see Havok and Beast, not Banshee. We don't know what becomes of Moira. And we don't get Emma, Azazel, Angel or Riptide. So a lot has been pushed aside.
