Official Rock Band 2 thread

Depends on what system you have. If it's 360 or PS3, you're paying $40. If you have it for Wii or PS2, then it's only the "From $29.98!" they have advertised.

Anyway, this weeks DLC is the Dr. Feelgood album by Motley Crue. $15.

So if you have to buy either RB2 or GHWT for the instruments, and another for the game disc, which one will you buy? People are saying that GHWT will have better instruments, but it's not out yet.

I'm getting GH:WT for the instruments, then I'm buying the disc for RB2..and renting RB1 for the retro downloads.

:whatever:

They both serve the purposes that they were made for. Both have strengths...and I would put more stock in IGN's review if the game wasn't getting good to great reviews everywhere else.

That reviewer's opinion was completely marred by the fact that he is a RB fan, and as a reviewer he should be more professional than that. I mean, I love Rock Band, but GH: WT can't be as bad as he was saying if everyone else is giving much better scores.

I bought Rock Band 2 and the Wii Fit on Saturday. Rock Band 2 is extremely cool so far (I've mostly been doing vocals). The only problem I have is the entire soundtrack (minus Nirvana, Lacuna Coil, System of a Down, Lit and Weezer) sucks total ass.

Rock Band 1 had an awesome set list.

And to be honest I was hugely let down with RB2's set list. In my opinion GH4 blew it away...but truth be told...in my eyes any set that has Hotel California wins out. :p

Guitar Hero: WT isn't a bad game. But from a completely biased perspective (I have both games and like both of them),both "Rock Band" games are better. The only really great thing about GH:WT that "Rock Band" doesn't have is that it has "Hotel California" and "Sweet Home Alabama". The create-a-song thing needs to grow on me.

Truth be told, I'll probably never use the music creator except once to try it out. It would probably bore me. :p

Hotel California is so full of win that I must own the game just for it. :(

Do RB2 instruments having similar quality issues as GH4? I haven't made up my mind which band set to get and I don't want to buy the set that has problems.

I haven't had any problems with the RB2 Guitar, but I don't know about the drum kit

I called Best Buy to see if they have the GH guitar bundle and the standalone RB2 drums...but they don't have the drums in right now.

I may break down and just buy the GH4 bundle. I'm so impatient. :(

The H-bomb of music gaming is about to drop.

Goodbye Guitar Hero. ;)

Nice pick up, I hope it's more of their later psychedelic material as opposed to their earlier pop songs

Wow, Beatles in RB2? This is a major coup right there. Definitely another good reason to pick up Rock Band.

I'll be buying Rock Band 2 sometime in a few months, and just use my GH instruments for it. I'll look forward to buying Beatles.

I have already loved playing Band on the Run in GH: WT.

The ONLY way Guitar Hero can save itself now is the last remaining hold out. They get Zeppelin and it evens the playing field.

Zepplin I'd say is next to impossible, along with Pink Floyd. Unless the proceeds went to charity I don't see Floyd participating

More information on the Non-Rock Band Beatles game:

http://gonintendo.com/?p=61207

A few key details about the game were revealed in a conference call Thursday morning:

- game will not be ‘Rock Band’ branded
- game does share some of the aspects of Rock Band
- visual/audio journey through The Beatles history
- released during 2009 holiday season
- music producer: Giles Martin
- exclusive deal
- game takes you all the way from “Please Please Me” to “Abbey Road.”
- talks started 17 months ago
- no comment on Beatles DLC for Rock Band
- worldwide release
- based on the UK track releases
- no specific platforms mentioned

I wonder if it will have its own peripherals.

I'm sorry Lantern, but Ozzie,Metallica, Van Halen and Eagles as exclusives are pretty big deals.

Besides, it looks like it's a moot point, considering it appears the official announcement is that the Beatles game won't be a Rock Band title at all, but it's own game.

Seems like a strange decision to me, but it could have been the only way they got the license.
I love all those bands, but not a single one of them holds the marketing power of the Beatles.
