Official Rock Band 2 thread

Someone scanned a flier on Rockband's forums and it said Sun and Mon only.

They are wrong. I have the ad in my hand, no where does it say that. And actually, right under the picture displaying Rock Band 2 for 109, there is small print that says: "Offer expires 12/20/08."

Guess it was from another page. Good news for those who haven't picked it up. I already have mine.

I just have to return mine to GameStop. Does anyone know if it will matter if I opened it? When I first got it, I just opened it to make sure everything was in there. Only thing I took out were the game and paper telling you not to return it to the store if there was something wrong. I put it back in and taped it up. You can't tell I did so unless you look on the edges and see the jagged end of the tape from where the blade on the roll cut it.

I don't think you will have a problem Spidey-Bat...at least you shouldn't if it's taped up and all.

I was going to just swap the box sleeve of the one I got from GameStop onto the one I got from TRU but that one's tape is torn by the top flaps on one side. I've heard GameStop opens it to check you didn't take anything from it.

If Gamestop won't take it back, you can sell it on Ebay since this bundle still can command a pretty high auction price.

I don't want to deal with the hassle of posting it and shipping it. Plus I wouldn't be able to make much of a profit since this is pretty easy to find.

EDIT: Returned it no problem. I paid with some left over giftcard and I got that back on my credit card so I don't have to spend it at GameStop.

They had no other RB2 band sets except for the one I just returned. 2 older guys were in looking for it but I think they wanted it for Wii b/c the guy told them the special edition of that won't be out until January.

Price matched RB2 for the PS3 over at Circuit City. The girl was going to call to verify Toys R' Us had it in stock but she got the run around and just gave me the price match, no gift card though...but hey, $110 bucks isn't too shabby for RB2. Can't wait to try it out.

Is anyone going to get the 3 holiday songs this week? I think I'll get the new Foo track pack instead.

Yeah, so I tried it out and the guitar isn't too bad as I've played Guitar Hero before, but the drums are fun yet difficult. I think I have a lot of practicing to do.

Got a question though, isn't there supposed to be a 20 song pack that is free to download? I'm assuming I just download it off the PSN store?

I think back of the manual has a code for that 20 song download. Check it out.

I convinced my parents to let me take out the game and guitar this afternoon. I have no games to play until Christmas and I can't take it to school. Drums and microphone will have to wait until Christmas. I have to figure out which other guitar to get. I'm leaning towards the Xplorer or WT guitar.

I got another RB2 Strat as my 2nd guitar controller because I like to have consistency, but I kinda wish that I had gotten GHWT guitar so I can have a chance to play older GH games.

I went to Circuit City today b/c they had the Xplorer for $10. Unfortunately they didn't have it. They did have a Les Paul on display so I held that to see how it was. I liked it so I got that on the 360 for $20.

I feel bad for Circuit City. They had a huge pile of GH and RB sets. Band sets, guitar sets, individual guitars. Guitar sets and the guitars were cheap, too. Though I'm sure all of that will be gone by the end of tomorrow.

I opened the drums today and they're difficult to put together. The latches on the uprights don't close all the way. The latches on the drum part don't close all the way either. I need a higher chair to play the drums b/c my couch is too low to use the kick pedal comfortably.

I'm pretty awful on the drums. I can get a beat going but when I have to play other notes I feel like a ******.

I went over my sister's house today and her two kids got Rock Band 2 for X-Mas and I just had to play along.

The three of us rotated on mic, drums, and also two guitars. I started out on drums. It took me about 20 minutes to get used to them, but after that, it was pretty simple. Of course, it's harder on the more complex songs, but I'm sure it'll all come in time. The guitars are simple at first, but there's a lot of cool variations that I really like.

I simply must have the game now.

So, I have a question:

I have a Wii and PS3 at home. My niece and nephew have Rock Band 2 on Wii, so, I'd prefer to buy the Wii version, so that we could play together wherever.

So, besides the graphics, is there a major difference or pros/cons between the PS3 and Wii versions?

Also, where online/in-store can I find the BEST deal for it?

I'm not sure if you can download/buy other songs on the Wii like you can on the PS3...but I'm not totally positive on that.

Hmmm..Based on IGN's review, Wii WILL have DLC:

Wii has DLC, but it is limited by the small storage inside Wii console, and the SD card. If you plan on buying many songs, then it will be better to buy a PS3 instead of Wii. Besides, you won't have to compromise on the graphics either. I have Wii and 360, and I brought the 360 version. I'm glad I made this choice.

Yeah, only get this for Wii if it's your only option. You can import RB1 songs onto the 360 HDD, greater storage capacity, and instruments work with just about every game.

lol. I don't have a 360.

I went and got the Wii version and I played for around 8 hours straight last night..

It seems like I have quite a bit of space on my Wii,..

Is this out in the UK yet? I can't bloody find it anywhere. :cmad:

I decided to get the latest Foo Fighters pack (DOA, Times Like These, It's a Call). Been a Foo fan these songs are pretty awesome, and at 440 MS pts you actually saved a little. And thanks to Wikipedia I now know that next March they will give us the entire album of "Ten" by Pearl Jam downloadable in the music store (Alive is already in RB2). Gonna save up money for that.
