Official Rulk Thread

I don't know, but I found out recently that tv writers get paid from $500,000 to 2 million. I was shocked, appalled, and I got over it.

That's not all TV writers, dude. Most do not make half that much.

Where are you getting this information? I ask because I have a friend of a friend who worked as a writer for King of Queens. He never made that kind of money.

They really, really suck. I can't comment on their accuracy, but they employ some god-awful writers.

No, they're just more reliable as a source right now. I hate taking anything as gospel when it comes from a friend of a friend. Because, you know, people lie. And even if Variety is trash, they have to check their facts, this isn't Batboy Strikes Again!

People that put blind faith into "newspapers" like that crack me up. :woot:

I'm not putting blind faith into it, I'm just saying when it comes down to believing your friend of a friend, and a "newspaper" then well one of them comes off as much more reliable than the other.

Accepting it as gospel and defending it by saying, "they have to check their facts" is not only lawl-worthy but it's also blind niavete.

That article states that studios "typically pay $500,000 to $2 million a year per writer for them and their staffs to develop new show concepts."

I don't need to point out what that means, do I?

No you don't. I'm just saying, they're not begging on the street for handouts like some of you seem to want us to think. Because that's only for the development of the show, they'll get more money when and if the show gets picked up.

If you mean picketing on the streets for what they deserve, I see your point.

No one deserves anything. It's a fact of life. It's like when a fat girl did a good job on some project and she tells herself "I deserve this piece of cake." No, you really don't, you may want it, but you don't deserve it.

No, I don't. I know that you like to put words in people's mouths in a feeble attempt to strengthen your own weak argument, though.

I was talking in general, to weed out folks like Xofenroht who actually believe that. It's like when you tell a black guy "You people..."

Actually, I'm not. You're an idiot, though. You know, if that helps, at all.
