Official Rulk Thread

Awesome! Nice hookup, Chibi!

Too bad the fight kinda blew. I never really thought about [BLACKOUT]what would happen if someone grabbed Mjolnir in a 0 gravity enviornment but somehow it just seems wrong to see someone take Thor's hammer and beat him up with it.[/BLACKOUT]

not unless "Rulk" is "worthy" wield Mjolnir or Thor turns out to Skrull or "Rulk" turns out to be a machine. Either way I cease my subcription to Hulk and or ANY book writtem by Loeb!!!

I won't even touch Red Hulk, not even to try it out. They're wasting a really good opportunity with some really good characters and I don't want them to be wasting my time too.

I never really was BUt I was giving it a shot NOW I am NOT a fan of this book and it's writer!

Ok in a sense- i share most of you guy's frustration with this new Hulk book, and it's "What the hell is happening!?" type of read. I wanted to know what was going on with the Hulk following the events of WWH, but to our dismay, we've been introduced to a totally new Hulk that's red and even stronger, deadlier, and more bad ass than the original. Which leaves me stuck on stupid after reading each issue, because things are going on without any explanation as to HOW, WHAT, WHY, or WHEN. And i don't think i can take anymore!!! How can this new Hulk defeat the Green Hulk so easily? Why is Rick Jones the Abomination?? What the hell happened to the Hulk's strength that he had in WWH??? And just WHEN are they going to positively i.d. this new Hulk so we can stop assuming????

I guess the real question should be, when is the real Incredible Hulk comic coming out? Because this one is on some different TIHS i can't even get with anymore. I like a good mystery with my comic reading, but this is ridiculous!

Is anyone actually a fan of this book?

You mean here on this forum or in general? Cause as concerns the latter I gotta say if experience teaches anything it's that there is always a market for stupid.

In that case then yeah, totally. Hell I'm sure tons of people will become fans of it just because of the stupid-ass Thor fight.

It's selling very well, so clearly a lot of people like it. Even if they're buying it just to hate on it, that still counts as liking it as far as Marvel is concerned. The numbers are all that matter, after all.

I didn't ask if it was selling, I asked if anyone was a fan.

Yeah, pretty much everything has fans. If you make something and sell it, odds are someone's gonna like it.

I don't know, I've been wondering what was going to happen with the original TIH title and if/when it would go from being the Incredible Herc to Hulk again...

Greg Pak has been doing a bang up job co-writing Herc and writing Skaar and I don't really want EITHER of those kick-ass books ending any time soon so I guess I really don't care if Hulk remains the main Hulk book--

BUT! It sure would be nice if I could read some awesome stories that involve the good ol' green, Bruce Banner Hulk. I mean, the last couple years were some of the best Hulk stories of all time and now, when the possibilities for the Hulk are completely open ended and ripe with potential...

We have Rulk. And he beats up EVERYONE. And we won't find out who he is, how Rick survived, why Rick is A-Bomb, or any of it until Hulk #25.

I kind of hate Marvel for how they handled Hulk after WWH . . and on a year his movie was released too.

Well, Skaar's a mini-series, so that one'll be ending in a few months. But Pak and Van Lente have said they've got tons of Herc stories ready to go, so as long as sales hold out, they'll keep the title going.

I thought it was. Looking back at some articles on it, it seems it is an ongoing. Weird. I don't really see it lasting too long...

Yeah, it's an ongoing. I've been loving it so far too. Two issues in and so much has happened yet there is still miles to go with the character.

I remember reading an interview where, I think it was Garney, said that Skaar starts off not saying much because he's so young he hasn't really developed a personality. His body grew really fast, kinda like how deer can already walk and stuff after they're born. So it seems like there's going to be a great deal of characterization and stuff in store for Skaar.

Yeah, it's probably my favorite book on the shelves right now. It's like a Conan fantasy story combined with a Hulk story combined with a sci-fi action story. Very cool.

I liked the back-up story in #2 a lot. It was nice to see that Skaar's not going to be treated as a universally loved savior. Fact is, he's probably more animal than human at this point--any nobility ascribed to his actions is artificial.

I love Skaar myself, hell ANYTHING Planet Hulk related has my attention, but with the main Hulk book just sucking doesn't sit well with me. I guess my major compliant has to be why the events of World War Hulk have been swept under the rug like it never happened. Why the personality of the Green Hulk has been reduce to his child-like, "Leave Hulk alone"-type persona. And i think it's only obvious that the Red Hulk, or Rulk as most of you have been calling him, IS INDEED Doc Samson. In reading some of the older Incredible Hulk issues, Samson has always wanted to beat the Hulk, and was in some ways jealous of his strength. Although he always claimed to wanting to help Bruce be free of the Hulk, i think it was his hatred of the Hulk that really kept him around. And "Rulk's" speech during his battle with the Hulk only solidifies my point that he really is Samson. Aside from that, i just wish that the loose ends were tied before they upped, and added this new unexplained mystery of another Hulk without any care about the main star of the book! His first appearance since WWH, and he gets his ass kicked with little to no problem at all?? And now he's going to be splitting time in HIS book with Rulk??? Moving forward, i'm hoping Skaar isn't a mini-series because it has my full attention, and there's so much room for character growth being that his parents were such unique characters in their own right. I can't wait until his personality starts to develop, and we get something other than the occasional "RAAAARRRGH!" LOL! But he's a bad ass character, and i hope he stays around for a while.

Just read #5 in the comic store today. Wow - I'm not used to Thor getting owned to that extent. Rulk just shrugs off shots from Mjolnir? And he can jump from the moon back to the earth? Seems like we're getting into pre-Crisis Superman territory here....

It didn't really surprise me that Hulk was brought back to his old power set. I mean, his rage had been building ever since the first issue of Planet Hulk, plus the destruction of crown city and his wife and child (or so he thought) and then all the events of WWH really fueled his rage as well...

But Hulk has always kind of "reset" his strength after turning into Banner pretty much always. His thing is, he may not be as strong as an enemy (the original Abomination for example) but he can get stronger as he gets more and more pissed and eventually beat him.

I personally wouldn't have it any other way either. It was cool for WWH because he had to be that strong to take on the Illuminati, but it would be way too boring if he was that strong forever.

On a seperate note...

I just read Hulk #5 in its entirety. Other than the fight most of us have already seen, [BLACKOUT]it kind of annoyed me that pretty much no progress has been made toward figuring out who Rulk is, other than more "evidence" against Samson. It is pretty obvious Loeb is just misdirecting everyone.

But I have to admit I'm looking foward to seeing more of A-Bomb and the Hulk working together and it look like there'll be a pretty cool team-up fight next issue.[/BLACKOUT]
