But Spidey 3 was at $303 million after its fourth weekend. Shrek 3 would only be at $281 million. That's a $22 million difference. Also Spidey 3 is growing some legs. It only dropped about 26% during the weekday, and this weekend it looks like it will only be down about 40%.
I was just saying Shrek is gaining on it, if very slowly. Spidey 3 was $27M ahead of Shrek after its third week. Spidey should come out on top, but Shrek is starting to look like a threat.

I dont think it will fail, BUT on the other hand I dont think its gonna do big numbers like some are hopeing for either. I think the 92 min runtime will help it's B.O. (more showings), but IF its bad, W.O.M will make this puppy drop like a stone. Time will tell though.
i cant wait until fantastic four 2 fails miserably

Hey, I'm the one who said Shrek 3 was going to make more than SM3 domestically, and people were like not a chance.

It wont fail. It's designed to entertain the Summer movie crowd (i.e. Young kids and teen-agers), and will do so.

Unfortunately, one of the greatest comic book stories of all time is getting raped in the process, but hey; at least Fox will make some money, right? So what do I know?
Why exactly is it getting raped? Just curious.

You know Capt. I still respect you, but how the hell without seeing the movie can you say they raped The "G" Man ? You have no clue.

Because he knows Galactus is going to be a storm cloud obviously.

And you do?

They already raped Doom, Mr. Fantastic, and Invisible Woman, and have all but apologized for not being true to Kirby's vision of Galactus.

Tell me, Carp; based on the first film, do you REALLY even need to see the second to see what Fox is doing?

That's exactly the same arguement i heard for the first film; "Oh, just wait and SEE if all the rumors about Doom are true...you havent SEEN the movie yet"...

Yeah. I'll pass, thanks.

Yea I do, because it's the FF. I'm the die hard fanboy. If you don't want to go see it, and you want to remain bitter, it's a free country. I'll tell ya what, I was going to go only on Friday, but I may go on Saturday to make up for your stuborness. :woot:

Cool. I'll be seeing SM3 again. :word:

We are 36 into "Spider-Man 3"s release. The first "Spider-Man" made about $43.5M after it's first 36 days, and "Spider-Man 2" made about $25.6M after its first 36 days. Can "Spider-Man 3" make at least another $22.2M in the rest of its domestic run? :)

Shreks legs will be cut by Surf's up and that Ratoutalle(sp), but who cares Shrek 3 sucked ass anyways its just little kids will see it 1000 times anyway even though it sucks they don't no any better.

@ Carpman and gang ; I'm sad because I'll get to see FF2 on August 8th (not sure what are the release dates for the other Euro-countries), so keep in mind to go easy on the FFspoilers in non-FF forums. ;)

I tried to put up some hope for FF2... I actually liked the teaser, but the new spots pretty much suggest to me it´s gonna be about the same thing with better FX and action... My guess would be it opens well but is VERY frontloaded. May make enough to justify another one, but if it´s not really better, I´m done with that franchise.

I believe these are not adjusted by inflation numbers, otherwise SW 4-6 and Indiana Jones would be much higher.

Any spoilers I'll keep spoiler tags around. :woot: Then It's your decision wheather to look.

No one should give a crap about inflation. Both those movies didn't have to deal with even a fraction of the things that bring down box office numbers of movies these days.

You are correct. You cannot compair movies from 30, or 20 years ago with todays movies box office wish. It was a different time 20, 30 years ago. No internet. Did not have as many things to spend your money going to see. Not as many diversions. Different time all togeather.

Weekend estimates are in. Updates below.

Oceans 13 $ 37.0
Pirates $ 21.3
Knocked up $ 20.0
Surfs Up $ 18.0
Shrek $ 15.8
Hostel $ 8.8
Mr. Brooks $ 5.0
Spider-Man $ 4.4

Well, apparently Shrek3 got some territory back from Spidey 3 at the same point, which was at 303 mil in the same weekend, but it should change on monday, cuz Spidey got to 308 mil back then thanks to the holiday.

Spider-Man 3 after 3 weekends 749$ millions

Pirates after 3 weekends 746$ millions

This is going to be as tight a race worldwide as ever

The funny thing is that last weekend it was the same difference SP3 626$ millions after 2 weeks and Pirates 624$ millions
