It's basically how HD shows all those little imperfections you don't notice before. Ignorance is bliss indeed.
 
Digital can be amazing but it depends on the lighting and the resolution. If you look at 'Drive' and 'The Social Network', they were filmed in digital but not at the highest resolution of the cameras being used. But the higher the resolution, the higher the detail which like what some have said here, can be a double-edged sword when it comes to make-up, CG, and sets.

It seems especially inappropriate for The Hobbit, which features the plethora of false noses, false beards, false fur, false swords and false sets that you might expect to see in a production of Wagner's Ring Cycle.

A strange choice, but I hope PJ can somehow make it all work.

Not really. The previous teaser poster with Frodo featured him holding the ring. This makes more sense as kind of a foreshadowing. He has no idea what the hell the ring is or what it does until late.
 
It's pretty funny the way they have tried to make Martin Freeman look like Ioan Gruffudd.

I loathe the need to make every face ascribe to the same narrow parameters of attractiveness- and Bilbo isn't meant to be a pretty boy.

Martin Freeman is a great choice to play the part, and I was calling for him to be cast before anyone else I know. But that poster completely negates the characterfulness of his face.
 
I just started reading the hobbit last night, my first foray into the works of Tolkien. I loved the first line. "In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit." Idk, the way it was phrased and the simplicity of it, I just loved it. Hoping to have it finished before the movie.
 
I'm not going to my normal theater again until this comes out because the stupid *****es working at the ticket counter are a bunch of incompetent morons who caused me to make the establishment worse by mistake.

THEY RUINED IT!!!

bECAUSE THEY ARE IGNORAMISES WHO CAN'T WORK CUSTOMER SERVICE AND ALL OF THE U.S.A. NEEDS TO GET THEIRE HEADS OUT THEIR ASSES AND GET THOSE FOOLS OUT OF THE WORKFORCVE! Or hell, quit seeking power like a greedy old man and get some damned adult supervision out there.

You want to be a greedy old man?? You want a precious?? I'll see you in hell then, and rest assured - I'm going to be the one dragging you there.

I mean, what the hell are these people around me doing!?! You can't leave kids alone at the work place. They'll turn the damn place into a brothel if adults don't keep on them and the place will get too damn disgusting for any respectable adult. Population is rising too fast anyways, I don't see why you stopped the cracka-lacka anyways. That reminds me...

Test the youth you say? Two wrongs are NOT RIGHT and that's all you're committing by letting this country go on how it's going. Wrong, wrong, wrong. You set up what is right and you uphold it or die trying, and the YOUTH IS NOT RIGHT!

Being content with dirt is one thing. Reveling in that mess is completely different. Remove these idiots around me from power or get out of my way.

By all means, whup my youngest brother if you need to... or shall I? I do not play nice.

so before this thread descends further into unbridled insanity, quick question. Was the Hobbit written before the lord of the rings trilogy or after with the intention of being a prequel?
