Well, Howard Shore is still in top, top form. Let's hope the movie doesn't let him down.

The samples does not work for me. Any idea why?

He just possesses that classical composing quality that many composers nowadays lack or lost. It's almost like a lost art. :csad:

But it's nice to hear something that wasn't overproduced or filled to the brim with electronics, synthesizers and droning beats for a change (*coughhanszimmercough*). Hearing just classical instruments on a soundtrack is like a breath of fresh air.

French horns. That is where it is at and i find my favorite composers utilize them the best. They give scores body that cant really be beat. With the rise of Zimmer's style they seem to be utilized less but when they are there they give a score an extra oomph imo.

Brass just isnt used the way it used to be. Sad really.

Agreed, French horns are incredibly appropriate for a fantasy setting. Even though it is a fairly complicated instrument, it has an almost primeaval sound to it. It's like a warrior cut the horn right off a dragon and started blowing into it to signal his victory.

It's up on youtube. :up:

"Blunt the Knives" is not at all how I heard it in my head all these years yet after listening to it I can't imagine it any other way.

An Ancient Enemy reminded me of The Bridge of Khazad Dum. Not bad Shore, not bad. :up:

It's like sex for my ears!

"Bridge of Khazad Dum" is an absolutely great track. One of the best from Rings.

This score sounds like it will be a return to form and a breath of fresh air in the film scoring industry.

Same here, I could listen to Bridge of Khazad Dum over and over and never get tried of it...same with The Breaking of the Fellowship.

Wargs :awesome::up:.

Those lips certainly look like they're designed for talking. I really hope that's the case.

"The Breaking of the Fellowship" is probably my favorite track in a film score of the last decade.

I like the score track during the race between the Uriks on land and the fellowship in the paddle boats part.

Less than an hour? mine is less than 5 mins. :o:cool:
