Official TW4S promotion & support thread

Soo to show my support...should I have a TW avvy?? Or do you guys have something in your sigs??

avys and sigs are nice :D

you can also sign the petition and checkout our myspace HQ for more info. (see front page)

We're also raising money to buy an ad for smallville magazine to advertise about our cause. Pm me if you are interesting in donating. Our goal is $500

lana, i thought we agreed that you'd say out of this thread . . . .

OK...out of this thread. :D

But seriously, I can't post relevant news related to this cause in here? Like news that Tom may very well be out of the running?

I'm confused. You posted Routh-related news elsewhere with little trouble. I post Welling-related news in here and I get accused of trolling. Something's gotta give.

Welling was not mentioned anywhere in your "news" hence its not relevant. What I posted in brb was routh related, and I might add, positive information for your group, had it been negative news then it would obviously have been a dig at you guys. It is stated at the beginning of the thread, if you don't agree with the campaign, don't post in the thread. Everything you've posted has basically been attempts to sidetrack the campaign, it is obviously not a contribution. Please take the quote in your sig a little more seriously and leave this thread be.

IMO from current lits of actors TW is THE actor who can pull of SUPERMAN character perfectly on big screen

and his interepration of superman matches more with comics than richard donner version which BR suited

but i doubt syudio people will sigh him they probably sign james mccavoey for new superman reboot movies

there is new that WB wants james mccavoye (Wanted, attonment) to play superman's role

although james mcacavoye showes no interest in playing "fictional comci book character" but studio people are persuaing to sigh the movie

because what ,marvel did with signning "serious " actors for comic book movies like Hulk, and ironman

Now I loooves me some Mcavoy, but as Supes? He'd have to stand on a ladder.

The guy is 5'7", that's some serious upshot camera angles. ;)

Smallville

By BARRY GARRON -- The Hollywood Reporter

"Smallville" is a "brilliant blend of tradition and contemporary sensibility" that presents the original superhero as a "Superman for a new generation."

Purists might balk, but for the rest of us, the latest retelling of Superman is a brilliant blend of tradition and contemporary sensibility. Not only is it a Superman for a new generation, it's a Superman for every generation.
That, combined with top-notch special effects, an appealing cast and a script that treads a careful balance between reality and fantasy, puts the WB Network's "Smallville" high on fall's list of smart new dramas.
In redefining the legend of Superman as a teenager, the producers decided on a "no flights, no tights" policy. That is, we never see the boy of steel in costume or in the air. Instead, what we see is a teen trying to make sense of his life and his superpowers.

Here is a Clark Kent who must respond to all the normal teen pressures to fit in, date and be part of the youth culture but to do so in a way that doesn't risk revealing his true identity. That makes for a lot more compelling storytelling than just having Kent save car accident victims (which he does, anyway).

In Tom Welling, "Smallville" has a perfect Kent, and the WB has a surefire teen heartthrob. Welling knows how to mix stoic resignation with youthful eagerness, adolescent awkwardness and a dash of bravado. It's not easy to make Kent credible, but, with the help of a perceptive script by Al Gough and Miles Millar, Welling does it well.

In this version, Superman's arrival on Earth occurs in October 1989 and is accompanied by a meteor shower that nearly decimates the little Kansas town, now a model of ethnic diversity. The meteor shower has other consequences, as well. The barrage from outer space strips redheaded Lex Luthor (Michael Rosenbaum) of his hair, deprives Lana Lang (Kristin Kreuk) of her parents and creates a long list of abnormalities that become grist for future episodes.

The premiere episode was recast with Annette O'Toole playing Martha Kent, Clark's mother. In the movie "Superman III," she played Lana Lang. Clark's father is played by John Schneider with a paternal charm and maturity not evident during the heydays of "The Dukes of Hazzard."
Director David Nutter combines imaginative shots from high-up angles with more traditional techniques to great effect, getting the most out of the story's personal drama and bigger-than-life action.

"Smallville" should be a good companion show for "Gilmore Girls," which precedes it, but it will be challenged by UPN's "Roswell" (formerly on the WB), which has a similar demographic appeal.

This is where it all began for young Billy Batson the dream of a new Superman film starring the guy whom play Clark Kent on TV. :cwink:
To all you Purists out there I understand and share your frustration with Smallville's weird Superman Mythos.
The WB can just leave it all in Smallville like the weird and strange Superman Mythos of the Superboy comics.
Superman The Man of Steel staring: Tom Welling can take the Superman Mythos to new levels in the same fashion that Timm Bruce's great animated series Superman TAS and Justice League have done.

Well guys, hardly anyone is donating now and the deadline is tomorrow. I guess We'll have to shoot for the january issue deadline instead. If I don't get anymore donations in before then I guess I'll just have to refund everyone who has donated so far.

:csad: Damn! that's not cool. :cmad: I blame the republicans no one has money to throw away and more. Hopefully I can make up the difference for the January deadline. :cwink:

Ah that sucks man i hope you can get some more cash for it if not good luck for jan deadline. I wish i could help you out but low on cash and i have nothin in bank.

I had a feel we wouldn't have enough time to raise it, although after all the estimated offers I thought we had a shot. So now we are going to attempt to go for the December 23rd deadline for the january issue. Those who hven't donated, please do. Heck, $5, $10, anything ;)

Well, the coalition just got a bit more powerful today. ;) :D

Congrats, admin ;)

BTW, guys, good news. Despite the fact we were given a oct 21st deadline, the ad guy said he'd pull some strings and might be able to get us another 10-14 days to turn in the goal amount for the december issue of Smallville Magazine! :D

Hey guys I understand you guys want to promote the Tom Welling for Superman thing to the WB but I think you are going about this the wrong way. I mean shouldn't you guys first start writing Welling and getting him on board to publicly say he wants to be Superman before going after the WB. I mean since the start of SV we've have yet to hear Welling say he wants to play Superman in a movie. So I am just saying maybe you should first try to get him on board before going after the WB because all this will mean nothing if Welling says No, and that he has no desire to play Superman.

No, because only a poor businessman would do this. Or an unemployed actor. If Tom would say "I want to play Superman in the movie" his negotial power would be down. If he doesn't say anything and with the support he has worldwide from fans, he can get the best deal possible for himself and his family.
If I were he (as much as I would want him to take the role) that's what I would do and wouldn't jeoperdize this just to satisfy some fans that believe that actors are only worthy of playing these characters if they say they are big fans of it, would read the comics and dream of playing them in a theatrical movie.

What do you guys think about a commercial for SaveSuperman.com and Welling to suit up being played during a Smallville episode??

I'm thinking of asking people to send in short video clips of themselves asking Welling to do it and WB to do the right thing period. Then editing everything into a commercial and buying time during an episode. Any thoughts??
