I really want the Silva/Jones fight at some point. It doesn't need to happen right away. maybe let's see if Jones can tie Ortiz's record first.

But to me that's a more competitive fight than GSP. Silva is freaking huge and he cuts a lot of weight at middleweight.

Think TUF might be in need of some ratings.... Pointless and undeserving (Sonnen) fight. There's a lot of time between now and april, this is onetime I hope someone actually pulls out due to an injury.

LOL at all the MMA drama queens losing their **** over this.

I find this whole Chael Sonnen vs Jon Jones TUF thing highly amusing. I feel that the only person who should feel slightly aggrieved is perhaps Dan Henderson. He is on a 4 fight win streak, however only 1 of which being in the UFC, however that 1 fight won was one of the fights of the year.. not a strong performance by any means though, but entertaining none the less. However Henderson's knee is supposedly taking longer to heal than they originally thought & with no set time for when he'll be available to fight I can understand why he has been overlooked.

I have absolutely no clue why Lyoto Machida thinks he is any more deserving than Chael Sonnen.. because he isn't. He is 2-3 in his last 5 fights, one of which was against Jon Jones for the title & he was finished inside 2 rounds. His only other wins in his past 5 fights are against Randy Couture.. enough said & then a guy who is about as relevant to the title picture as Phil Davis, Ryan Bader.

I also highly appreciate Dana White's stance on the situation with the 2 or 3 LHW's crying about Chael jumping the line to get a title shot, all these guys were offered Jon Jones to save 151, then presumably talked to regarding 152 bout & they all turned it down.

I hope Chael offers more of a wrestling threat to Jon that I though Rashad was going to give, it is an interesting fight I feel.

The UFC will probably make Hendo fight Machida next, which will be a great fight. I don't care for TUF or this Jones/Sonnen fight. Wasn't Sonnen's last fight a loss? And they're giving him an instant title shot without fighting at 205 in over 6 years? Yeah, this is the WWF. But who cares. MMA is on a downward spiral anyway.

Hendo can't fight anyone at the moment, supposedly his knee was due to be fully healed in a month. A month has gone & past and from what I understand he still has no return date for when he can fully train again.. which is why Sonnen has been bumped up the list.

I think they should go with Lyoto/Shogun 3 & stick Henderson in against someone like say Rampage or Evans when he is fully healed up. How both fights finish determine who is next in line.

I don't feel there are any stand out challengers at the moment, Lyoto certainly isn't anymore deserving than Sonnen considering he has a negative record in his past 5 fights with his last win over a credible opponent in the title picture coming in 2009.. It's also for the record a fight he lost regardless of what the judges said.

Shogun I could jump on board with more than Machida, but he hasn't been stand out, he is on a 1 fight win streak & that's much like Lyoto's win, it's over someone irrelevant to the title picture.

Even though Sonnen hasn't fought at LHW in 5 years or so, on paper his recent record, even though against MW's is listed with a who's who of top talent.. with 2 of his most recent loses coming against the P4P King & best fighter in the history of the sport, Anderson Silva.

Problem isn't that it is WWF, it's abit of a boxing like matchup in the sense that previous records & current win streaks don't mean ****. It's all about who can hype the fight up the best, who can put asses in seats & back their talk up. Chael fits the bill.

This pretty much. But Henderson got injured and didn't inform UFC when it was a month out which could've saved the card instead of trying to scramble 8 days out.

B makes a good point in that there aren't any other standout challengers right now. There is Hendo right now but he's still injured and not yet recovered.

Gustafsson/Shogun are set to fight. Shogun himself turned down a rematch with Jon Jones.

Honestly, I'm not crazy about the match-up but to me all the fans crying how this is killing and destroying the sport need to calm down.

It didn't destroy the sport when numerous other fighters got title shots coming off losses.

Machida deserves a shot more than Chael because he's at least fought in the weight class in the past few years. When is the last time Chael fought at 205? Plus Machida's beaten a decent contender at 205, and the same can be said of whoever wins the match between Shogun and Gustafsson. Chael is nothing to 205 but someone talking ****. Just because he would have stepped up to fight at 151 shouldn't mean that he's got a clean slate to get a title shot in a new weight class without fighting anyone there. Dana can bring up how Chael's a warrior or whatever **** about that, but it's a waste of time considering he told Rashad, who is far better than Chael, that he would have to fight a time or two at middleweight before getting Anderson.

This is where the Chael shtick has gotten annoying. I'm a wrestling fan, and I get that he's playing a character. It doesn't bother me like some people who take it serious, but I don't want to see his ass fight Jones because he hasn't done a damn thing besides run his mouth. If he ends up taking it to Bones that'll be great, but he has nothing on Jones at all. Jones is a significantly better wrestler, he's got better striking all around, and he's subbed much better ground fighters than Chael's defense. If Chael fought his way through some good competition it wouldn't be a big deal, but he's done nothing but talk ****. I know that there's some money to be made, but you can say the same thing if Gustafsson beats Shogun because he's 6'5. Dana is just jumping to conclusions and favoring Chael here. Maybe people will think that since Jones is a lanky black guy like Anderson that he'll have trouble with Chael, but I doubt it considering Jones is the better wrestler.

I know, but that shouldn't always hurt him just because Chael would have done it. Who knows what the guy had going on at the time? He could have been injured, had prior engagements with his family, etc.

Sonnen doesn't deserve it, E-Man, but that's the fight fans are calling for now. Jones, in more ways than one, brought this upon himself. He ducked Chael, and contradicted himself. What's actually surprising about this is that Sonnen has been supported by the MMA community. Fans want him to fight Jones, and win (even after the **** he spewed about Ando and Brazil).

It also doesn't help that the LHW division is deflated and limited.

That's because people believe Jones ducked Sonnen when by every indication it looked like Jones would've destroyed Sonnen regardless if the fight was on 8 days notice.

Jones is still just a student so obviously it's Jackson against chael. How many times has Greg Jackson coached tuf now? would be cool is chael brings Randy and henderson for backup or just a visit.

Joe Rogan Podcast-
This is really long but it's really good, about PEDs and pro athletes.

about the 40min. mark is when they get deep into it.

Just because a guy has a coach doesn't mean he can't coach/train other guys. Rashad Evans has coached TUF as well.

I doubt Chael brings Hendo or Randy. He will probably bring guys from Team Quest Portland. I mean maybe he will bring Randy in for a guest session, but Randy looks happily retired right now.

Look at carwin he is not coaching. He doesn't even decide the fights. Gsp the first time he coached was not really in charge. He would defer everything. His second time he did step up though and made all his own decisions. You can tell which guy is really not taking charge of his team. They just edit out anything that makes the tuf coach look like he is just following his real coach.

So Henderson only started back (& slowly at that) training after his knee injury.

So realistically, he was never a choice if Jones was to fight again in April. He essentially would have 6 months to complete rehab on his knee, film TUF & complete his camp work to get into shape for the fight. There is just no way he was going to be available unless they want him to be less than 100%.

I don't know much about the lay off times for certain knee injuries, however GSP suffered a major knee injury to his ACL & had to endure 5-6 months of rehab/specialist training on the knee, as well of course as rest/recovery period which was 6 months or so also, although his required surgery. However for Henderson, if he didn't have surgery to fix the partial tear, he is relying on his own healing ability & with that giving someone a deadline to be in shape after having a tear on a knee ligament just wouldn't have been a good idea after the UFC 151 problems.

Yeah, Hendo ain't coming back until at least November of next year.

Actually more like February. On the MMA Hour he talked about having a fight with Machida probably around Super Bowl weekend. He said he wants to fight 3 times by next November.

What's the betting he either re-injures the knee, has to pull out of any fight he has arranged before July OR ends up looking out of shape & gassing inside 2 rounds because he hasn't been able to get his proper cardio work in.
