JDS has a ****ing iron chin. Tons of heart.

But Cain man... wow. Whole 'nother man in that octagon tonight.

Yeah Cain would have killed any other heavyweight with those shots early, but JDS still survived them. It's crazy how the first two rounds were legit 10-8 rounds of brutality and he still survived to a decision. JDS is tough as hell.

^did you see the pressure he put on for 25 minutes? he wouldn't be human if he didn't fade

Cain had an awesome gameplan. I'm glad he's back on top. It was pure domination all around. One thing that disappointed me was him gassing. I'm a huge fan, but he shouldn't have been gassed when he was the one whupping ass the whole time. JDS looks like E.T. right now.

Judging from how much pressure he placed upon JDS, Cain had a very legitimate excuse for gassing. If it been any other fighter, he probably would've been knocked out by Dos Santos' second wind. Cain's pace was almost superhuman if you ask me. He was still throwing home-run shots and getting takedowns into the final round.

the middleweight division got derailed a bit lol

both tim and belcher were derailed all thats left is weidman and lombard now

I understand that he kept up a high level pace. Dude threw a lot of punches, kicks, and takedowns. I expected more from his cardio considering all we've heard about it, and he started getting a little tired too early for my liking. There's no one that could keep up with that at heavyweight though. Maybe Cormier since he went 5 with Barnett, but even then you have to account the damage done. JDS was pretty much dazed the whole fight.

Like I stated before, Velasquez had to bully Dos Santos into the fence and he did just that. However, never in my wildest dreams did I ever believe that Cain would outbox Junior like he did tonight. Insanity. Velasquez not only displayed great head movement this time around but he showcased excellent jabs, crosses, uppercuts, counter hooks, body shots, combinations, etc. On top of it all, Cain walked through some of Dos Santos' power shots.

Props to JDS. All heart, man. I love that guy too.

he really needs to keep his hands up jds wasn't listening to his coach

i think jds underestimated cain and expected another 64 second bout

That and JDS has never experienced being hurt and in trouble. Everything kinda goes out the window when you've never been in that situation before.
Again Cain impressed me tonight didn't think it would turn out like this.

I don't think anyone can criticize Cain's boxing anymore. While it's not the prettiest or cleanest in the game today, Velasquez's stand up is undoubtedly effective.

man joe lauzon is undoubtedly the most exciting fighter in the ufc

out of 14 fights he has earned 12 of the night bonuses

Story of the JDS/Velasquez fight this time round was the cardio & pace Cain set real early.

He had set such a pace & hurt JDS with a right hand all in the first round that JDS never really fully recovered from. Although he did start to show signs of the 2 balancing out more in terms of cardio the longer the fight went on & JDS was able to show some offense after the 4th, not much, but more than he had shown in the 2nd & 3rd.

If Dos Santos really focuses on his cardio & close the distance between the 2 in that department even by half, he will have a far stronger chance of beating a gameplan like that again as Velasquez wasn't having any luck getting him down until the later stages of the first round after 4 or 5 attempts.

JDS got a second wind? That's not how cardio works.
It's called being rocked and then finally recovering. Notice how JDS stopped looking like JDS in the first round...That wasn't cardio, not that early.

Props to Cain, his style was designed to give someone like JDS alot of trouble. JDS needs people to sit in his pocket and after that initial rocking, Cain instilled his strong body to body smothering tech with dirty boxing.

JDS' hands were also down to block the wrestling shots, other wise he'd have been on his back alot more. JDS also needed to show some of that BJJ, he simply just tried to get up consistently.

Joe Rogan really wasn't fair last night, even when JDS was doing strong things it was like Rogan was just trying to prove his point. I mean not one mention of JDS' TKD? I get that Dana wasn't the mexican base but that was a bit much. "This just proves that first fight was a fluke!" wow. Joe should respect fighting enough to never say such a thing.

Happy for Cain, he must have really felt down after last time. Now he's on top again.

Looking at the road JDS took to get his title shot, I don't see him getting a rematch any time soon. Then again, cain just took on a mid level fighter coming off of a lose and that was that. We'll see.

That first fight was a fluke, IMO. Cain was clearly not himself, and JDS' overhand right barely caught him on the pad of his thumb. It was literally an upset because that should not happen on such a sloppy punch in the first place.

Last night was more the way that first fight should have gone. Not saying Cain should have had total dominance, but I'm saying Cain should have looked more like he did. JDS was taken by surprise because he was expecting the Cain from 13 months ago... not the Cain that destroyed Bigfoot and Lesner. And he got rocked early for it.

Technically, JDS recovered in the third round. What we saw in the fourth round was a 'second wind'.

I knew Cain would win. This one ended the way the 1st one should have

There's no way that first fight was a fluke. JDS' game is about cracking guys from the outside with speed and power. He threw a perfectly timed strike that dropped Cain. It would be one thing if JDS wasn't a great striker that did what he always does, but that wasn't the case. Both guys were injured too, so there's also that.
