great title fight gil is and has always been legit he gave ben his toughest fight
They're both set to collide in Q4 of 2013 if they both win their respective bouts. I don't see that as a long way off.
DittoI had it for Bendo. I believe he won rounds 2, 3, and 4. Gil clearly won the first and fifth rounds though.
Unfortunately, I gave it to Bendo too (three rounds to two). I think Melendez took his foot off the gas pedal in the fourth round and it cost him.
Gilbert will likely get an immediate rematch though.

Melendez was close to getting that victory. He shocked me with how good his performance was.
Cormiers fight was dreadful.
Diaz getting killed was amazing.
Mein vs. Brown was awesome.
I know. It was a close fight and Melendez had his shot in the fourth to put pressure on Henderson but he was too damn conservative. That's on him though and he's probably kicking himself for not taking a few more risks in the fourth.
A portion of fans are criticizing Cormier but I thought he fought smart. Daniel made sure Mir never got into rhythm with his boxing and he forced him against the fence (where he smothered him). Cormier didn't attempt to takedown Mir either. He made sure that Frank never established any type offense.
I don't blame the guy for going with something that works, but I think that he could have been more aggressive in the clinch. He was really putting a hurting on Mir in the first, but he didn't do much more of that throughout the rest of the fight. Maybe he broke his hand or something, but I think he left some aggression out there.
He also has talked a mad amount of **** about beating Jon Jones. You don't call out someone as great as Jon Jones and not expect backlash when you don't have a great, dominant performance. Jon Jones is a destroyer of worlds. That's like calling out Goro and then barely getting by Stryker. Styles make fights, but the fans get restless at times when you talk a big game.
If there's a frightening prospect out there for Jones, it's Cormier. He's an Olympic caliber wrestler with very good cardio and above average knock out power. He's also a smart guy (heard his IQ is above 125). Sure, he didn't 'kill' Mir, but you'd be pressed NOT to call his performance dominant. Daniel closed the distance remarkably quick and pinned Mir up against the fence where he pummeled him for 2.5 rounds (assuring that Mir barely mustered any offense). It was 'safe' but he made damn certain that Frank never became a threat to me.
Eh, is it any different than Jones talking **** about Cain (Cormier's good friend and teammate)?
i never saw this thread before. i'm slowly getting into UFC thanks to my cousins
saw my first event last month (mid march i think?)

When did Jon Jones talk **** about Cain? I know he's said that he can beat heavyweights, but I haven't heard him talk outright trash about him the way Cormier does. Cormier hasn't just said that he'd beat Jones. He's gone on to talk a lot of noise about him.
Jones specifically said that his older brother (a pro football player) could destroy Cain Velasquez. Why? No logical reason other than his other brother being the stronger wrestler when they were younger. Sounds like **** to me. Cain is too silent to say anything but Cormier isn't.

Your dislike for Jones is really showing again.![]()
