RR is amazing. Period
Yeah, I thought that match would at least go 3 minutes or longer, but wow.
RR is amazing. Period
Just...no.Rousey is Fedor incarnated... in female form. 14 freaking seconds.
I'm actually pretty surprised by all of the Ronda love. Women's MMA is in it's infancy. The division she's in couldn't be more shallow. Essentially she's an olympic athlete fighting High schoolers.
She has talent for sure, but her division is so weak.
And her competition is extremely weak. That's not really fair, you're judged against your competition. She record her opponent this weekend.
This is exactly why she is afraid to fi... I mean won't fight Cyborg. She would destroy cyborg idk why people think other wise , she's way to good . She would take cyborg down and submit her so easy .. Technique would negate the strength gap between the two which isn't that much of a gap .. RR uses leverage way to good .. Just amazing
She is basically Royce, though against slightly better competition. Rousey is a superior athlete, who great skills. But she hasn't been tested by anything approaching elite status. There is no Nog, no Cro Cop, no anyone. This isn't like 155 today or GSP cleaning out a fantastic 170. I don't like Jones, but look at the competition he has faced in comparison.I'm actually pretty surprised by all of the Ronda love. Women's MMA is in it's infancy. Cat did the stupidest thing imaginable. And her competition is extremely weak.
...and wow what a terrible strategy Zingano had.
Just...no.
If you must compare her to someone it isn't Fedor, or Tyson(as Dana White is trying to do). They knocked people the f out, she doesn't. She's more like Royce Gracie. A pioneer fighting less talented people who didn't really know what they were dealing with at the time.

Both are/were the first dominant fighter when it started. Fought and beat less talented, less well rounded opponents in a very new sport. Almost all wins from submissions. Pretty much one dimensional fighters fighting other one dimensional fighters. That transition was very Fedor-esque.
To me, she is quite possibly the closest any female in MMA will ever get to Fedor. Her Judo skills will not be matched for a long, long time. Tate is the best wrestler in the sport and Rousey just embarrassed her with throws and ground game. Plus, Ronda armbars anything in sight. If that doesn't scream Fedor, then I don't know what does.
There's nothing about Rousey that makes me think of Royce.

I am a big Tate fan, but Big Nog? No, just no. Nog and Cro Cop were not the most well rounded fighters, but they were incredible at their disciples and very good MMA fighters. There was a time when you could hit Nog with a truck and it wouldn't stop him. And on the flip side, taking a shot from Cro Cop was like getting hit by a truck.I'm sorry, but didn't Anderson Silva do virtually the same thing in the Middleweight division? Maia, Leites, Lutter, Leben, Sonnen, etc are all considered one-dimensional themselves. Granted, WMMA lacks depth but one could argue that Rousey has faced her 'Big Nog' in Tate already. Cyborg could be her 'Cro Cop'.
Again, to me, Ronda is an explosive athlete. Her ability to takedown her opponent with the smallest resistance is astounding. Royce was never that type of fighter. In fact, he was the opposite. There was nothing flashy or explosive about his game.

Cyborg has size and punching power. She could knock out Rousey and overpower her.

I agree on Anderson. It is why I always had GSP ahead of him in the all time stakes. Though all those guys are better then anything Rousey has fought in relative. Plus he beat the likes of TRT Vitor, Okami, Franklin, Henderson, Marquardt and back in the day he beat Mach.
I agree Rousey is a fantastic athlete, which is exactly why she dominating. She is like a prime Serena Williams in a far younger sport.
Lesnar? If Couture was able to takedown and hit Lesnar cleanly then so would've Fedor. I'm sorry but Prime Fedor would've submitted or TKO'd Prime Lesnar. Brock hated to get tagged (ex. Carwin, Overeem, Velasquez, etc). You can't last long in the sport if you ball up every time you get whacked by a hard shot.
Lesnar spent 0 time on his back in that fight with Couture, if I recall, Couture got him down onto his ass only briefly, exhausting himself which allowed Lesnar to bounce straight back up & I think put Randy on his back almost instantly.
We already saw what happened to Fedor when he fought a skilled, proper weight limit heavyweight. Antonio Silva smoothered him & beat Fedor like a drum in the clinch and on the ground.. and Lesnar is a far stronger wrestler than Silva.

Also Fedor was knocked out by a light heavyweight, struggled against the power of Silva on the feet, who's to say Lesnar wouldn't have dropped Fedor like he did Randy?
