i think Cerrone would give conor tons of problems great cardio and chin just like nate but hits way harder, superior wrestling, stronger, faster and more diverse striker than Diaz

Cerrone's a tough fight for anyone at LW, he's only lost 4 times in about 20 fights in the UFC LW division & those loses have only come to guys who are contenders/champions, dos Anjos x2, Pettis & Diaz. Also has a lot of wins over former champions & extremely tough guys in the division, he's definitely top 5 in the division.

He's well rounded & is equally a troubling striker, throws everything quite stiff & unforgiving so even if you check a kick or block a punch or kick you still feel it & on top of that he's tough. Cerrone deserves more popularity & fame than he currently has because he's a killer & entertaining outside the cage as well, he needs to claim a title to give him that push.

Both the FW division & LW division are filled with killers, it doesn't matter which division Conor's in, the top guys in both divisions are no pushovers & will give him a fight.

^i agree i do not know why he isn't a bigger name good looking, exciting fighter, finishes his opponents constantly, tons of personality, etc.

When do you think UFC will pull the trigger on a third fight between the two? Surely they have to since they are tied up 1-1.

People keep calling for him to vacate the belt for the sake of the division, but honestly... What does he have to gain from doing that? He wants to have his cake and eat it too, that's normal. The UFC should've stripped him, but if they're not going to why would he take prestige away from his brand? I'm pretty sure he doesn't hate money. Promoting a fight with the potential for a two weight champion will bring in extra $.

Apparently at some point over the weekend Dana White's been quoted as saying that McGregor has 2 options for his next fight either defend his FW title against Jose Aldo or vacate the belt OR fight Eddie Alvarez for the LW title.

I presume from the quote I read if he opts to fight Alvarez he won't be stripped or forced to vacate the FW title at least until after the bout as he'll want to be the first to hold a UFC title simultaneously in 2 weight classes.

The only problem is if they strip him of the title after less than 12 months, they set a precedent that they'll need to keep enforcing. That being if you do not defend your title you will be stripped of that title after X number of inactive months in the division.

On the plus side doing so would get rid of ever reoccurring interim titles as champions that constantly get injured or pull out of fights wouldn't be able to do so & yet maintain their championship.

Why does one require real world experience when there is actual research on this topic to prove the point? You say I am talking out of my backside, say I am talking nonsense, and yet you have proved nothing in the way of support for your argument. All you have done is insult me, which is in fact trolling.

How did I insult you? Everything I said was true. Please take a moment to watch the following video of Firaz Zahabi, long time coach of GSP. PROOF.

I bet he goes with the Alvarez option

He'll fight Alvarez it gives him a decent payday and the chance to be a two weight champion against a style of fighter he matches up well against before Khabib returns to the division.

the best option is do conor vs alvarez for lw title and have Jose Aldo defend the Interim title against max holloway who has a 9 fight win streak

I don't really agree with Zahabi's philosophy on how a fight should be scored even though he came to the same conclusion that I & the majority came to that McGregor won, he came to it for different reasons.

But he's completely correct in regards to a potential 3rd fight happening at 155lbs would benefit Conor's endurance for a lot of reasons, his actions both offensive & defensive wouldn't be as taxing on himself because he'd be leaner & carrying less weight in addition to the fact that Nate himself would be smaller making defending clinches, punches, kicks etc take less energy.. but keep in mind, the same would all apply to Nate as well that's why he's more of a LW than a WW, he can go the full 5 rounds at LW at the same steady pace, whereas on evidence of the bout on Saturday, he cannot himself do that at WW.

Now would a 155 bout benefit McGregor's endurance that it would bring it on par with Nate's? No, largely because of the very things Zahabi mentions, his style of fighting isn't suited to a 5 round fight. He's a very explosive, fast & powerful striker, think along the lines of similar'ish fighters in other weight classes Vitor, Rumble, even his potential next opponent Alvarez. All their most dangerous rounds are the opening 1-3 rounds. It's when they're at their fastest & most dangerous. That sort of style will always start to taper off in the later rounds depending obviously on how active they've been in those opening rounds. Grinding fighters like Nate, dos Anjos & someone like Sonnen or Bisping will always be this sort of opponents Kryptonite because they tend to fight at 1 pace constantly, whereas the likes of Conor fights 1-3 rounds at a relatively fast pace, the only other fight it hasn't worked out for him was the Max Holloway fight in which he tore his ACL during the bout & ended up having to pace himself & take Holloway down to grind him out.

I still want to see him holding two titles. Can you imagine the hype if he holds two titles simultaneously? And then there's the haters... McGregor holding two belts would be a beautiful thing, even if for no other reason than it would drive them crazy which would bring me an immense level of joy.

Rory McDonald going to Bellator because UFC doesn't want to pay their #2 WW and former title challenger enough money

The No. 2 welterweight is Stephen Thompson. He beat MacDonald. Let's not twist stuff around here.

still top 3 WW in the division that they are just letting slip away

they let Phil Davis,Benson Henderson,Rory all slip away

lorenz larkin and donald cerrone also let their contracts run out aswell 202 was the last fight on both their contracts

bellator could grab both of them aswell since ufc aint paying them much

Nick Diaz got in a fight in a Las Vegas casino bathroom. I'm not surprised, motherfu**ers! :p

Rousey is not fighting in the Garden. Her "return" keeps moving back more and more. She might really be gone.

I agree with her Apollo Creed mentality just like George St. Pierre. When you're no longer the best, its time to retire.

Meh. Phil Davis hit a ceiling and was never getting better. His transition game was always bad and never improved.

Cerrone's contract is not run out. he still has one more fight left. That rumor of Bellator offering him a new deal was made up ********.

Benson Henderson got a better offer from Bellator. UFC didn't want to match it, and Bellator took it. That simple.

This is the nature of the business. Guys don't have to re-sign with UFC when contract time comes.

Rory MacDonald is a good fighter, but let's not pretend he had flaws when he started moving into the upper-echelon. He had trouble pulling the trigger and would frequently look hesitant.

I think the mistake with Rory was hyping him up as the next GSP. That only hurt his career and didn't help it.

Then she should retire, and not keep on stringing people along. I think she might be realizing her Hollywood career is probably not going to be a thing.

Wow! This is huge! I think it's the best signing Bellator has landed ever. The dude is legit top 5 and maybe even top 3 in the world.

It's not that huge. The field in Bellator is limited and Bellator cares more about freak show fights than legitimate match-ups.
