One Universe: Independents Edition Season I OOC Thread

Okay cool. Glad I have you guys back. Hopefully Rain Dog pops back in as well, and we get a few others.

I'm still interested, but I honestly can't get any posts in this game (or any, for that matter) for at least a week and half. I have another short film to shoot next weekend and it's stressin' me the **** out.

Well, I don't think we'll be coming before by then anyway

First of all, very cool on the short film. Hope it turns out well.

And secondly, yea I'm not planning on opening the IC thread for a little any way.

Also, anyone out there in Veteran-ville interested? I know I got a good amount initially, and then people either never applied or dropped off the face of the earth once they made a post or two.

Well, my problem was that I managed to pick the wrong character... twice. Someone who only stimulated me in concept rather than practice in Spawn, and someone that really didn't lend himself to interaction in Bond. I have an idea for someone who can fulfill both quotas at once while giving the game an interesting villain, but it'd require two things: You guys being willing to let me back in after I unrightfully bailed on you without notice, to which I say that I'm sorry and it won't happen again if I apply.

And the second would be a bit trickier, the allowance of a character who's only appeared for a four issue miniseries, well under the six issue requirement. True, the rule is in place for a reason, but given that I feel that the series in question was written poorly by it's creator and not exploitative enough of the character's potential, there's little that I would owe to the amount of continuity available. I'd essentially be taking the concept and making it my own, taking it in a slightly different direction, but it's still a concept that deals with a subject near and dear to me and would allow me to work at it with a bit more confidence than when I was playing Bond, or applying as Spawn.

This concept that I keep talking about?

Like I said, you guys have every reason to reject any attempt to apply, specifically two very good reasons. But if I were accepted, I'd give it my best shot. I have loads of ideas that could potentially shape into a threat large enough to bring hero characters together against him, so there's something going for the game aswell if it can be allowed.

If I knew who the hell that was, I'd think about it.

I wouldn't mind seeing an app. I know it sounds like favoritism, but when you're interested and invested in a character you're a strong player in any game, and this game needs someone like that.

I'm not familiar with the character, in fact I never heard of him. But if you write a strong app and have a strong story idea in mind, I don't have a problem accepting you.

Byrd, wieg, what do you think?

Third character?! I say you can go **** yourself! :cmad:

Wieg and Byrd, feel free to make a decision on this. I'm cool with whatever you guys decide.

RPG APPLICATION

Screen Name: Carnage27

Character you'd like to portray: The Doctor (Tenth Incarnation)

Superhuman powers, traits, other attributes of interest: The Doctor is the last of the Time Lords, a race as old as the Universe itself. Time Lords have incredibly long life spans, and The Doctor is no exception. He is so old, he has forgotten exactly how old he actually is. The Doctor also has the ability to "regenerate". When mortally wounded, he goes into a hibernation-like state and expels a terrific amount of energy, changing his appearance and personality.

The Doctor is incredibly bright, and has amassed an amazing amount of knowledge throughout his very long life. He's shown considerable ability in the fields of espionage, disguise, battle tactician, and leader. Some say he's too charismatic and can manipulate his so called friends into sacrificing themselves for him.

The Doctor's greatest "power" is his ability to transverse time and space using his TARDIS. It allows him to go to almost any time and point in the universe's history.

Originally appearing from (which comic, and company?): The Doctor has appeared in a few different comic media, but the Tenth first appeared in IDW's Doctor Who Ongoing.

Fictional history of the character:

The Doctor is old. How old we may never know. But he has been traveling time and space as a rouge Time Lord since he was young, when he stole a TARDIS and as he puts it, "started running." He's spent his long years traveling the galaxy, sightseeing, and traversing history.

While he has visited many planets and peoples, The Doctor has always had an affinity for Earth and the human race. Something has always pulled him back to the planet and he has often asked humans to go on his travels with him. He has also saved the Earth more times than we'll ever know, often keeping his actions from causing panic or alerting the human race of the existence of extraterrestrial life. He acts as an undercover, and often black-ops like, defender of the planet, though he often chooses to not use violence, instead talking his way out of situations.

Recently in The Doctor's history, he was forced to time lock both his race and their sworn enemies the Daleks. He essentially wiped the two races from existence, an action he deemed necessary due to their "Last Great Time War" which threatened to engulf all existence.

Since then, he has travelled with Rose Tyler, a companion he eventually fell in love with, and was tragically trapped in a parallel universe due to a necessary move by He has also travelled with Martha Jones, Captain Jack Harkness, and Donna Noble, all who he has left to now wander alone, reclaiming is lonely protector status.

Hero, Villain, or Walking the line?: Hero

List a few reasons why you chose this character: I love the character. He's quirky, yet can be dangerous when angered or when the ones he loves are threatened. The time travel aspect also has unlimited potential for storylines, and I already have two arcs planned out as-is.

Write two complete sentences explaining what you can bring to this RPG: Another character, and a few interesting arcs that I think people will like.

How many days a week you intend on posting in the RPG: Since I'm planning on doing solo arcs with him initially, I only plan on posting with him a few times a week.

Please provide a small sample post as your character, at least three paragraphs and one line of dialogue in length:

For too long I've wandered the universe. For too long I've stared into the vast stretches of infinity. For too long I've ran. Ran from responsibility, from my past, from my future. Too long have I flown around in this big, blue box.

Yet it's never long enough.

I've seen things most beings can't even comprehend, done things that have shaken worlds, and met the greatest beings in history. Yet there are always more things to see, more things to do, and more people to meet.

Standing at the controls of the TARDIS, my TARDIS, I smile, "Where shall we go today, darling?"

Do you know how to post pictures on the Hype boards?:

11th Doctor or no approval!

What? The 11th Doctor is cool.

Sorry. Bowties and fezzes are cool.

Time Lord Triumphants are not.

Yeah, the interest in the RPG has gotten a bit better, but not that much. If we can get maybe two more folks then we should be good to go.

If and when you get the IC thread going again, I'll try my hand at an app. If Nemesis is rejected, then I'll go with someone else. I believe in the game enough to keep trying to find the right character.
