But the thing is, some people don't give a crap about playing nice, community, or playing by any esablished rules. You never know what someones true intentions are, because all in all, some people just like to stir and start up the bullsheet just to watch the monkeys dance to their "witty comment and petty insult" organ grinder.

I didn't attack you, i asked a straight forward question, you guys seem to think Matt's idea is to "squash" free speech, when he never once said that, he's trying to cut down on flaming which includes your gif disses.

I can't tell you how many discussions I've read between two members where every post begins with some form of "No, YOU don't understand what I'M saying, I've read the comics since forever blah blah" and I really want to tell them to just PM each other leave the rest of us out of it.

This whole thing is really good to see. Especially coming from the perspective of a newer member. It's encouraging that I know I can post my opinions and people who enjoy disagreeing in an insulting way will be discouraged from showing their less desirable qualities.

I don't feel it's so much a matter of respect, as it is a matter of passion. I think most of us can agree that to be on a message board you have to be a fanboy, but there are definitely varying degrees. To some people, like myself, it can be hard to understand why something so small can potentially destroy the moviegoing experience of some of our peers. Now I'm a die-hard Batman and Hulk fan since childhood, and I do have strong opinions about how these films should be handled. But some people have a whole step by step procedure they feel all should follow, with any deviation seen as an attack on them personally. People like that really can't play well on a message board where the point is to communicate with those who just may have opinions different from yours. As long as message boards exist, these type of situations will happen, its a testament to these stories we've grown up on, and how deeply we feel about these fantastic characters (and in some cases, maybe TOO deeply)...

Opinions....meh. They're like ********s. I don't mind em. What really REALLY bothers me around here is people posting nonsense, filler, conversational inanities and thoughtless drivel. Seriously if you have nothing real to contribute on the subject of BATMAN or TDK then go and loiter in the batusi or community threads or hell just go and watch TV. Save your comments for ONE large post! Make every post count! For this forum to function we need to be able to follow a thread of conversation; this becomes hard when only 4 out of 25 posts on a page are worth reading and the rest are just fluff. The standard around here has degenerated to the stage where I don't even read posters I don't know, and this is unfair on noobs! . Captain Clown, Jimmy and a few others are exempt from this rant because even they post ALOT of little one-liners they *are* typically smart, insightful or funny nonetheless. too bad theirs is a rare talent. I know this problem is a natual consqequence of the boards popularity coming into 18/08/08 but damn, it still annoys me. This place is NOT a chatroom

My Views:

Most of the time when I browse on boards I see something that takes my fancy, and I make a comment; either it being a serious one or a silly one. I don't take posting as so seriously as others do but I stick to the guidelines. I know I'm not very popular on these boards but I know the select few who can put up with me. Personally, when people abuse or flame others on the boards, other people get involved and the people that don't want to get involved don't want to hear it. I'm one of those people who likes to have a laugh with others (even if it's riduculous and totally off-topic). To put it simply, I'm a big softie.
