Apocalypse Oscar Isaac IS Apocalypse

Interestingly, I just noticed that he doesn't have the blue lips in his Victorian costume in the comics. It does feel like they are taking inspiration from that costume, which is what I really wanted them to. So I am thrilled with the suit.

I do hope some of the CGI enhancements adds some color. The pure blue is a bit boring.

God you guys are right. Apocalypse does remind me of Ooze from the MMPR movie. lol

I never watched Power Rangers so I have no idea if he looks like a villain on that. But to me, he looks like a bad guy in a nickel-and-dime sci-fi movie from the 80s.

You just described the styling of Power Rangers without ever having watched it. :funny:

Yep that's totally the description of a Power Rangers villain.

Oh people...this is Apoc in the filmverse...let it go.

On the other hand, I do love the attention Power Rangers is getting...far more people acknowledge the show now thanks to X-men.

PR fo life!

Aside from his face, which yeah, looks like Ivan Ooze, I think he looks fantastic... and I'm very surprised by the response.

But you just said his face looks like Ivan Ooze. That's the main thing people are complaining about.

Apocalypse is a cross between Ivan Ooze and Man-E- Faces.

Mentioned this before, but his look is giving me more of a Wishmaster vibe tbh.

This Apocalypse seems the most similar to the X-men Evolution design.

The movie and Apocalypse both highlight the Egyptian/Pharaoh aspects of the character and aren't massive in size. I always loved Evo's take on the character.

Yeah, X-Men Evolution seemed to have inspired a lot on the designs same with Caliban (based on the leaks) & Nighcrawler . I think it was really cool to incorporate the Egyptian/Pharoah aesthetic on Apocalypse.

Just to have done this with the makeup, and made him taller and not his actual height. That would have been perfect.

I really don't get the Ivan Ooze connection...to me he looks more like a Frost Giant from Thor and I love it. Tbh I am more disappointed by Magneto's new costume, it looks like Iron Man's mk.V

I haven't been an X-Men comics fan since the early 90's but I remember what a tremendous villain Apocalypse was, even in his first few appearances.

He had presence, malevolence and an immense sort of evil dignity - possibly the greatest villain to be introduced in that time ( I always found the Reavers boring and Mr Sinister kind of campy) .
You could imagine Apocalypse as a Pharoah, a mighty ruler.

Anyway, having seen the photos, I'm literally horrified that they couldn't have made him look any of those things. Generally, I don't like motion capture, and whether they went for the classic look or toyed with it, this is one time that motion capture would have been a much better way to go - the costume and face look awful, like a sci-fi B movie villain.

With all the money at Fox's disposal, surely they could do better ! I feel sorry for serious X-Men fans, your studio has done you a great disservice.

Simply.....ugh !

I like his look for me I just wish he was more taller from that still it looks like Storm is taller than him. Lol. Over all not to bad I think he will look better once they touch up the film, etc, etc. I also like the subtle A the designer put on his armor.

Why don't they like motion capture for the X-Men movies? Imagine if Thanos, Hulk or Ultron were done just with make up or someone wearing a suit.

Honestly, he looks horrible, IMO. He looks like a guy who is painted blue and wearing clothes that are too big for him. It is underwhelming, IMO.

I was always fearful about Singer directing this, because he lacks imagination as a director. If you want a down to earth, character piece, Singer is your guy. If you want a sci-fi/fantasy epic (which is the stage needed to do a villain like Apocalypse justice), you need someone else. His unimaginative and underwhelming use of Sentinels underlines his lack of a vision on this level, IMO. I hope he proves me wrong, but the early shots do nothing to reassure me.

BINGO!!!

Somebody finally said it!

Jesus, tired of these weak a**, spin doctor excuses for every X-film! There's always an excuse for these films! Singer cannot do this genre. It's obvious and staring us all in the face. The dude has no vision or flare for these types of films.

Would it have really been so horrible to go mo-cap and CGI for Apocalypse? Would the earth fall off it's axis if, god forbid, we got accurate costumes and character depictions? Oh, silly me, I keep forgetting How corny, silly and stupid these characters would look if they had comic accurate costumes like the MCU and DCU.

The X-franchise continues to be the odd-ball franchise. Even WB/DC looks like they have finally figured out the formula for these films. Not Fox/Singer! "Just throw the fans a bone or two with nods from the comics and that should be enough". Going all out fantasy/sci-fi with our comic book properties is to great a risk. Let's just stick to what we do best and let it ride".

If it ain't broke don't fix it.

Ugh.....this franchise. X-fans continue to hope and wait for the X-Men to get the same big screen bonanza treatment as the MCU and DCU comic book films.

Well Storm is supposed to be 5'11 but I know what you mean, I really am excited to see the full glossy trailer with all the special effects added in.

I've seen it all. Like someone trying to justify why movie Doctor Doom can't have a superpowered suit of armor because it's just not "realistic". And the next thing you know Iron Man is making hundreds of millions at the box office.

I'll never claim that everything translates well from comics to film.

But so many times people try to justify changes by saying "you can't do that" or "that would look silly" when the reality is that filmmakers could easily make things like the comics but they just don't want to for whatever reason.

Audiences go to these movies expecting extravagant costumes and other crazy stuff you don't see in real life.

I may have to make this post my signature.

This franchise is out of excuses. Everything that supposedly can't or shouldn't be done has been done.
