Apocalypse Oscar Isaac IS Apocalypse

How is the make-up a failure? In your opinion it might fail as an adaptation of one particular look from the comics, a look that the filmmakers clearly are not going for. I'd think the measure of success for makeup is if it can transform the actor, which I think it has here.

His face honestly doesn't look like any interpretation of Apoc that I've ever seen. So to me that's a failure. If you don't think it's important that he look like how he does in the comics, that's fine too. We're never going to convince each other.

Apocalypse's face is his most defining physical feature. His blue lips and wide, bald gray head. It's not hard to do. As much as I love these films, I knew when they announced Apocalypse we weren't getting his actual look..

Quite disappointed in his look. The armour is cool just the face. Wish it was grey and had white or red eyes. Hope they take some of the criticism and polish it up with some movie magic.

In DOFP'credit end, young Sabah Nur had White/red eyes, it was perfect.

Apoc without his face markings = Wolverine without his distinctive hair. It wouldn't matter as much now because everyone recognizes Hugh Jackman as Wolverine but if he showed up in X-Men 1 looking virtually nothing like Logan except for his claws and healing factor, I think people would be like "what is the heck is this?"

Man y'all need to relax. Seriously when will people ever learn to just WAIT. This is why they shouldn't release anything because all people do is *****. We might get all those things you all want. How do you know his look won't change? Don't forget this seems to be the only Apocalypse related stuff they've filmed so far. They still have months to film. I'm surprised at how early we got these.

She did an incredible 1 hour long 1960's X-men history program. I know she's going to hate it. XD

While I'm personally fine with the look for Apocalypse, I do think Singer might have been better off going with the same color of make-up and colored contacts that he used for the young Apocalypse in the DoFP stinger. If he had that color scheme facially, I think more people would be fine with the costume itself.

i don't expect to see a true adaptation of the X-Men on film but a little effort would be nice.

i can critique how i please and feel. you can ignore me if you would like, i don't mind. having grown up with these characters for over 35 years i do have a fair grasp on what is what. fox just has not brought it and chooses the do their own thing.

I feel like they'll change his eyes to white with vfx as well add the lines on his mouth and more than likely make him look taller.

I've seen it all. Like someone trying to justify why movie Doctor Doom can't have a superpowered suit of armor because it's just not "realistic". And the next thing you know Iron Man is making hundreds of millions at the box office.

I'll never claim that everything translates well from comics to film.

But so many times people try to justify changes by saying "you can't do that" or "that would look silly" when the reality is that filmmakers could easily make things like the comics but they just don't want to for whatever reason.

Audiences go to these movies expecting extravagant costumes and other crazy stuff you don't see in real life.

Your opinions are yours and that's fine. I've also grown up with these characters. Mine is 26 years. But tat doesn't hold any weight. We are all fans. Some longer than others. Doesn't mean anything.

Remember when Quicksilver was bashed for he looked and when the movie came out, everybody sang a completely different tune?

I see the same thing coming, especially with such a great actor playing Apocalypse.

Quicksliver still looks horrible in DoFP. But the performance was great.

In fairness, I doubt Fox and Singer are going to release the first publicity photos as anything less than a finalized product. What we see is what we are getting (in terms of the eyes, anyway).

Promotional material has never been a guarantee of a character's final look in a film.

That said, I hope they stick to the white eyes featured in the teaser poster, as I'm not impressed with how Apocalypse looks in the EW photos.
