Our "Space Princess": David Corenswet IS Clark Kent/Superman!

One of the only issues I am seeing with Corncob is his shoulders are quite slanted and narrow, I cant imagine him being able to become so large just due to his body shape. I am probably wrong and hopefully someone ;) will prove me wrong.

You can see by his arms that he isn't lacking muscle but his shoulders certainly aren't broad.

Ahh maybe I take it back, perhaps because of his height he looks smaller than he is.

he could always juice to get capped shoulders, although i'd hope that hollywood was moving away from that trend

I think with the right workout regime he'd be fine.

Cavill didn't look particularly broad either years ago, but he became a beast.

So what I can surmise is that Brittney and Richardson were in the mix at some point, but likely not anymore. But THR doesn't know who the two mystery contenders are, so ya never know. Personally, I think if they knew enough to know those two specifically were in the mix early on, they'd probably also know if they had advanced further, so I'm guessing those two have already been eliminated. And whoever else is screentesting remains a mystery.

Fair but Cavill has a much more square physique, if you look at a lot of pictures of Cornbread you will see just how sloped his shoulders... can be? I dunno, its weird. Sometimes they are and sometimes they aren't. If anything this might just work perfectly for him to slip into his Clark Kent disguise.

I see what you mean, but I think it's just poor posture on his part sometimes.

But yes, that may work well in his favour if he can bring a touch of the Reeve approach - where Clark looks smaller and more slouched than Superman because he deliberately does it.

Corenswet’s physique is more comparable to pre-Hollywood Hemsworth’s than Cavill’s, which I think is far preferable. Because that “square physique” is EXACTLY what made Cavill look awkwardly short and stubby to me once he packed on all that muscle. Whereas if Corenswet packed on muscle, due to his height and lanky build, his proportions would make him look far more imposing on screen.

The website Pinkvilla is reporting that the screen tests will supposedly start this Saturday and be finished by Wednesday of next week. Take it for what it is worth.

You know you’re on a superhero message board when people are body shaming guys that look like Corenswet and Cavill.

To quote Michael Bluth, "Who?"

Body shaming? I could be wrong but as the one talking about body shapes im assuming you are referring to me? I dont think I was body shaming anyone.

I desperately hope the DCU doesn’t become the well of horrifying steroid abuse that the MCU is. Some of those guys are gonna die so much sooner than they should.

If Corenswet gets cast and goes from being his already super fit (I don’t think he needs to bulk up at all) physique to being a ****ing monster like Cavill I think that would just be sad and concerning. It is actively important to let that monster ripped body type die as a standard for playing these characters.

I think something close to what Pratt achieved for Guardians would be perfect for Superman.

I don't want him to be too chunky, but at the same time I don't want him looking like a Greek statue either.

It’s insane how much things have shifted in the last couple decades. There’s a side-by-side comparison floating around of Hugh Jackman in the first X-Men vs. him in, I believe, The Wolverine. In 2000, he was a normal guy version of ripped, then 12-13 years later, he was absolutely massive.

Here’s hoping what Rob was going for in The Batman catches on with the current crop of superhero actors.

With Jackman he was cast two weeks after they already started filming. He literally got the role and had to go right into filming on the first movie.

With X2, he was able to train and prepare long before filming started. His physical commitment to the role is unmatched in the genre. Nobody trains like him.

Like, I truly see no reason why he needs to get bigger than he is in that shirtless pic. I know he could get bigger naturally without juice, but that’s clearly perfectly sufficient.

We all want a ripped Superman, but the truth is he could be 5'4 and a 100 lbs and still be the strongest man on the planet lol.

The argument that Superman doesn't need aesthetically large muscles is a recurring one. Whilst he probably doesn't, in terms of how it impacts his strength, it's often been the case that Kryptonian society was written as being at the top of its game in terms of genetics and science. So it makes perfect sense that Kryptonians would have strong, healthy, athletic bodies. Why would a society that can do anything with genetics opt for the opposite?

It's also how the character has been drawn in comics since pretty much day one.

Same, he doesn't have to look like a bodybuilder but somewhere in the middle is good. Chris Evan's Captain America physique isn't far off either.

No one is saying he shouldn’t be athletic. Just that a normal, fit physique is sufficient. Especially in an industry and genre where there is clearly a massive amount of steroids being abused.

Pattinson’s body was sufficient for Batman, Corenswet’s normal body would be sufficient for Superman. Normal healthy athletic male bodies are fine for these characters (and both those examples are a good few steps above average already).

I read an article where Jackman claims he would turn the role down before putting steroids into his body. I believe him.
