It's more or less the reason they exist in anime....rule of cool. It just looks awesome.

B roll footage.

seems south america had a jeager as well.

Building a big ass robot is like the most impractical thing to do in a war but in Japan apparently it's either build a robot or just don't do ****.

I love that movie so much. lol

The ending threw me off and it was so awesome that it did.

You should definitely check out the entire movie. The movie plays homage to Kaiju films and there's a lot more craziness than that ending.

I hope they find a good reason for why we had to create giant robots to fight alien monsters. It makes for great visuals, but it's an incredibly impractical way to fight giant aliens which can simply be killed with missiles and bombs.

Except they CAN'T be killed with missiles or bombs. At least not by one, or two, or 200. The earlier scripts, and the final one, clearly states that he first Kaiju took 3 days of CONTINUOUS bombardment to kill. Then its toxic blood wrecked the city it was attacking. Conventional tactics and weapons won't work against an uncoventional threat. Thus you must think outside the box.

Oh dear. I wonder which city it wrecked when it died?

Did the government in the Movies ever manage to defeat Godzilla or any of the other Kaijus on their own? Without the aid of some other big monster? I haven't watched any Kaiju Movies in a long time.

One of the Millenium movies has a female pilot that kind of did. I don't remember too much about it 'cause it was hilariously awful. The army contains Godzilla's meltdown in Godzilla vs. Destroyah, though I don't think that counts. In Rodan '57, one Rodan's killed by the military, and the other dies with it. So there's a few.

:lmao:

Yeah I think it was Godzilla vs. Megaguirus. I enjoyed it for what it was but it was very thick on the cheese.

Also with Godzilla vs Destroyah Godzilla Jr then absorbed the radiation. I do remember a female pilot capturing Godzilla with Mechaghidorah but Godzilla was still able to get loose via plasma breath.

If the point of Power Rangers is to be silly, then that's a point I think needs to be dropped. Power Rangers are known for their suits, big ass robots, aliens, etc. It wouldn't lose anything by dropping the silliness and actually replacing that with good humor that isn't cringe-worthy or eye-rolling bad.

If you want a serious Power Rangers movie then do Voltron. Power Rangers is never going to get any kind of a treatment that is "serious" so long as Saban is adapting Super Sentai for American television. Which they still are.

In the early scripts, it was Osaka. So Japan got hit first. By a Kaiju called "The Trespasser". Which was described having a crocodilian head. I believe that the final script changed the first attack to San Francisco.

is the "Trespasser" Kaiju the one that is seen on the deck of the aircraft carrier? Also is the "axe-head" Kaiju a different one from the "Trespasser"? thanks

When I first saw the trailer, it reminded me of Robot Jox. Please tell me I'm not the only one who saw that back in the day. :csad:

Anyways, Pacific Rim looks good so far. Who doesn't love a giant robot story?!

I'm hoping we're one step closer to getting a proper Gundam movie.

Still think this will make Hellboy money. A little more with Wb's hit and miss marketing machine behind it.

WB's going to market the hell out of this movie. I think it's going to be big, but that's just me.

Oh, I remember Robot Jox! That was an awesome movie, well, it was back when I thought lame movies were awesome.

I can't decide if this movie killed my dream of an Evangelion movie or if it just made it closer to a reality. :funny:
