thanks for posting those spots. Thing is the critics said a lot of the same things about the other tentpole films that have come out so far. I hope that PR lives up to this recent hype. Problem for me is I now have to wait until next week to see it. I will see it in 3d too.

Karloff is NOT in the movie (didnt see it but I know this from the art book), he does look awesome but Del Toro says in the art book that they dropped the design from the movie because it was just too weird as he has a second mouth on his chest, he says it was too bizarre and unnerving.

Karloff is a Kaiju that appears in the comic. The design is really different than many of the other Kaiju that we've seen so far and is totally awesome.

I assume the inspiration behind Karloff was the fact that Frankenstein's Monster became a Kaiju in Japanese films from the 60's. I've never been able to wrap my head around that.

Heads up, GDT's film "The Devil's Backbone" has just received a new release by Criterion with artwork by Guy Davis, who designed some of the Kaiju in Pacific Rim.

You must have been one of the few seeing how cool it looked early on because I hated the first trailer. I found it deeply unappealing. The original vibe I got was a cheesy, dumb mess of a movie and the vibe I have now is decidedly not that. I now know what the movie is heading for and it looks good, thank god. Not introducing us to the characters and the world sooner was a stupid move by the studio. Period.

I doubt it was "few". I (or we) just don't call a movie a dud because an entire marketing campaign's worth of appeal is not contained in a teaser.

Who says I wanted that? I just wanted a teaser that didn't suck. Your defense of the lousy marketing is funny. The movie had me because of the director but it would have been nice to actually see something that made the film look good. Smart move on WB's part waiting two weeks before the release that kinda trailer. Hopefully they haven't killed the film.

are you joking? the 4th trailer is one of the best trailers i ever saw and its a perfect trailer for the general public. this should be realesed from december to june. ever other trailer was a fanboy trailer for fanboys. this last trailer is so good that i am going crazy and saying that this trailer would give them 50 millions more.
