Knifehead's review

Guy keeps screwing up the terminology though-But a solid review nonetheless.

Looks like some stores are already selling these-early.

Why just the three toys? Seems odd.

You mean 6, why just 6? Lol. There's a second series of toys NECA is making, either in August or September. Series 2 will have 3 more figures. Two more kaiju, and one more Jaeger.

No word on if they'll do a series 3, I really hope they do though. I would love figures of Cherno Alpha, Coyote Tango, and Tresspasser.

Series two consists of two more kaiju. (presumably)

Therefore they wont be revealed until after the movie is out.

And damn...That Crimson Typhoon is sexy.

Ah, I wasn't aware.

Cherno Alpha is a must.

Well, I caved and bought a set off ebay. :(

I hope we get some information on who the pilots are for the first set of Jaegers. It'd be nice to get take on things from them. Being the people who changed the course of the things and all.

Anyway, that Brawler Yukon Jaeger looks...odd kind of. Doesn't look like it has a head, lol. I saw at some other forums that there's a picture of 4 Mark 1 Jaegers in a hanger, but I can't see it.

For some reason the pictures won't load on my mobile phone, or PS3, I don't have a proper computer. :( I hope someone uploads the pictures themselves. Because they ain't working.

Very interesting that originally Rinko's character was only going to speak Japanese until the mind link is completed. They scrapped it because they thought it would be difficult to pull off.

Though it probably would have been more interesting.

I think it's a very interesting idea. I probably wouldn't have had as much of a problem reading English subtitles, as I have watched plenty of anime with them. But, the general audience probably would have been left very confused, trying to keep up with reading the subtitles while watching what is on screen.

And I think it would have been very hard to teach Charlie Hunham to speak Japanese before they even started filming, not to mention speaking said Japanese while being rigged to and being thrown around in a giant robot head for three months. :woot:

Maybe it's an idea that can be explored in a sequel.

So the pilots feel the "pain" of the Jaegers it seems. Now that I can't wait to see, epecially with the demise of Cherno Alpha, if they include that aspet of the pilots that is. Poor Alpha is having it's arm bitten off and head pulled off, so...yeah.

Anyway, my Pacific Rim figures came in the mail today. After playing around with all 3 for about 25 minutes, I've come to the conclusion that they're OK. Not terribly bad, not super awesome, just...ok. The weakest of the bunch is Knifehead. His small stature (he barely comes up up to Gipsy Danger's chest vortex), and unarticulated smaller arms really do him in for me. Typhoon and Danger are a bit better, slightly more worth the money.

Not having any acessories really sucks though. Especially when the box art for Gipsy Danger shows it using two chain swords. :(

So I'd rank em like this.

Crimson Typhoon - 3/5

Gipsy Danger - 3/5

Knifehead - 2/5

Are we going to be seeing a lot of the older generation Jaegers in the movie does anyone know? Or will we just hear about them, I think they have me just as curious as the new ones.

Going by what GDT said:

7 "active Jaegers" with two or more passive or in the background.

of that 7-4 will get big screen time.

@BrollySupersj

Not to mention that you overpaid with Ebay.

The over paying doesn't mean much to me. I wanted to get them quickly and so I bought them. Of the issues I have with the figures, the over paying does not bother me as much. At this point, the figures are better than nothing. To me at least.

If they have a sequel, it wouldn't be with WB right? Legendary fully owns Pac Rim, me thinks.

With that whole feeling the pain thing, if they ever do make Evangelion it's gonna seem derivative unless they get as mind ****ed as the source material.

They're going through a rough patch right now because of percentages of $$$$. The new head of WB is trying to solve the conflict but it's not currently working.

Keep in mind that Legendary isn't just a finance company. Thomas Tull is not just a business man, but also the creative type, which is somewhat rare in Hollywood. That's why it's a shame Legendary may be leaving WB. Which means WB is on their own with their DC films (MoS 2, Justice League) and may lose the distribution rights to future films like Godzilla 2 or Pac Rim 2.

That's why WB renewed contracts with other production companies like Alcon, etc because they know they might lose Legendary. Also, keep in mind, Legendary owns 'Warcraft' so that may not be a WB partnership. That's why WB is pushing for 'Dungeons and Dragons' on their own to level the playing field.

But in the end, a movie like Pac Rim could NOT exist without Legendary. They fully (or mostly) financed the film by themselves if I'm not mistaken.

So the graphic novel shows us that Gipsy Danger's chest reactor can be turned into a weapon. Hope we see that in the movie.

I believe 75% of the budget came form Legendary.

So, could the success of this film and Man of Steel help repair that relationship somewhat, or does this go deeper than just money?
