Pacific Rim - Part 3

I actually see this movie tomorrow so I'll report my honest opinion. (Probably around 11pm est)

I was also hyped for Man of Steel and it faltered a little. We'll see what Pacific Rim has to offer in the end. :D

I did walk out of MoS thinking "some critics are gonna rip this a new one."

That new clip. I think its number 5. Cool clip, love the flower tongue and the music that plays when Gypsy Danger shows up but man awful awful acting from Charlie Day

The action stuff looks cool but I was never concerned about the action stuff...

If I was in mission control I would have the attacks mounted towards the monsters eyes and neck first and foremost.

So interesting that Australia has the most advanced mech, with the way hollywood works you would think that honor would fall to the US or given the genre perhaps an Asian country.

Pretty coo.

He was standing there frozen in fear. What's wrong with that?

Something about that clip feels "off" to me.

I never read Devin's coverage of a JJ. Abrams film. It's too tainted with hatred and bitterness. I'm a fan of most of what Devin has to say about films and we agree more often that not but like everyone he does stuff that pisses me off. I'm a Del Toro fan but Devins slobbering coverage of any Del Toro movie is enough to make me vomit.

I just don't see how you can be a fan of that guy when he clearly has personal vendettas and is biased against certain filmmakers. Faraci is pretty much just a professional troll at this point, not a movie critic.

he is biased like a lot of people. but he has connections and gets a lot of news before movies are out. and knows how the industry works,.
at least he is not lying and pretending that every movie is good so that studios invite him to sets. like for example Slashfilm Peter Sciretta.

and Devin Feraci is seeing like me that JJ is similar to Bay. :oldrazz:

I like most of his articles and most of the time I agree with his reviews. I've never denied that he is an often childish *******. If it makes you feel any better I hardly visit his site anymore because of the childishness. I will never defend his mean spirited attitude but he is one of the few really good geek writers out there.

Seriously I'm not making light of his issues. I dislike a lot of what he does but there is literally no critic that I agree with as much as him. Yes we have disagreed on more than a few films to varying degrees but I still agree with him more often than not. It's frustrating that he is "my" reviewer but he is. Ultimately I do decide what I like though and it does suck that I can't trust him to fairly review certain director's films, those directors include Del Toro. His Pacific Rim review isn't going to mean a thing to me.

I don't buy this at all. If the world were under attack, no one would care enough to make Australia a ****ing mech. Everyone would just abandon that **** and let the monsters take it over. Suspension of belief can only go so far.

But at least try to hide the bias. I'll also never forget the time James Cameron almost took Devin to court for slander and poor Nick Nunziata had to bail his ass out of trouble only to be called a "deadbeat" by Faraci a year later. Devin is a truly hateful and disgusting person.

i dont like Devin Faraci. but why should we? right?

i think this is a big problem that fans dont get. a writters job is not to be liked. sometimes he has to challenge you. and i think Devin knows that he is a lot of times mean but so what. fanboys got so used to those writters who are always so ''safe''.

Jamie from TMT is very different compared to Devin. but he is honest and he says it how it is. i like reading his news articles and listening to MovieMoan.

They'd just release their wildlife on them.

Clips always look weird taken out of context, especially since the flow is completely interrupted.

I don't think most want to "like" him I just think that some don't respect him because of his hypocrisy on certain subjects and his vendetta against certain filmmakers and his ass kissing of others. That type of stuff annoys people.

Thankyou Tim Riggins! Clips are always odd.

Its not a matter of "likeability" or even necessarily of agreeing with him. Many of just feel that Faraci is actually not that good at putting together a coherent argument. He is himself a "fanboy" and displays the worst kind of stereotypical fanboy behavior. He is far too apt to turn to personal attacks against those who disagree with him or against those who made the work he is critiquing. He displays a consistent lack of professionalism often writing purposefully insulting non-updates in the most hit-****ing manner that if they were forum posts instead of blog posts would be heavily modded. He makes some pretty extreme leaps in his readings of some material but then treats his interpretations as fact, even in the face of commentary from the content creators, and again, slams those who try to disagree with him or explain exactly why he's wrong. He is easily the worst writer on his own site.
