I hope its with DM2 too cause that's gonna be far bigger than LR. I'm tempted to go watch LR just to see this on the big screen.

FINAL TRAILER:

damn that was badass. Thanks for posting. I agree with the previous poster. Well choreographed and rousing action backed by excellent cgi, plus with the human elements of what all the people are going though. I have enjoyed all that I have seen before and I wanted to see this movie. Now after that trailer I want to see it that much more. This film deserves to do so well financially but I fear that it wont. A true shame on so many levels.

really cool trailer. I think that should have been the first theatrical trailer if they modified it a little.

Ooh, I didn't even know that movie was coming out this week. Yeah, I could definitely see it being attached to that as well, seeing as that film's main demographic is kids, and Pacific Rim is pretty much right up the kiddies' alley.

The more publicity for this film, the better.

Too little, too late.

It's out in a week. One trailer for a movie struggling with weak tracking and marketing doesn't turn the tide that quickly. This should have been either the first trailer or out this spring (instead of that WonderCon footage).

The more I see of these trailers the more I keep getting a nagging feeling of something just being off about it all. Oh, the fx look fine and the action as well but the characters and dialog don't add anything like the action/fx does and then there's the whole thing with double pilots and a brain link or something that seems needlessly complicated for a film like this. I'll still see it but it's not got me salivating or anything.

New trailer is great.

For over a week now I've seen a TV spot pretty much anytime I turned on the TV.

New trailer was awesome, loved it. I think I spotted a new kaiju as well.

I find it interesting, especially if it sets for some sort of big, one man piloting thing towards the end there.

Still think this should have been Cameron's big return piece. Would have done gangbusters.
Even if it starred Sam W.

Cameron knows how to use heavy effects during daylight. One of my favorite aspects about his movies. Too much nighttime fighting/action is a turn off for me.

I suppose it could be interesting but I kinda doubt it will be or that it will be satisfying. I'll probably hear that Checkov's gun cocking a mile away. Just a feeling I'm getting.

I must say it's a little frustrating to see all of the action..either during the night, soaked either in the ocean or a storm, or both. Seriously.

I find it a great stylistic choice, especially when the rain drops bounce and ripple off the shell of the Kaiju and Mechs in action. So amazing.

Yeah, but for the majority of the fights. Or at least, it seems like that's the case, with perhapys 1 or 2 fights that take places during an overcast or daytime.

Yup. And that's one of del Toro's big points of pride for the movie. Doesn't matter if it's raining or snowing or whatever, night fighting is night fighting and it gets repetitive fast. Wasn't it Cameron who said that most film makers choose night settings for big CG scenes because it's harder to make the effects lifelike in daylight? Might have been Bay though

I think having all the fights at night/in the rain really takes away from the scope of the action.

It doesn't feel as huge as it should, at least to me.

I really wanted a straight, sunlight battle in a city. Where we could REALLY see the size and magnitude of these brawls. It still looks too....videogame to me.

An example of what I mean in "The Bat" CGI in the final scenes of Rises. It's almost photoreal in bright sunlight. It feels epic and real.

Why not see it first then say how terrible all the fights are?

I think one reason why it looks like a video game is (besides the night setting) is the lack of plating for a reference point. Or at least, i dont think they did a lot of plating for the cities and backgrounds; everything was created by the ground up and hense it looks that way.

I have no comment about the quality of the movie as a whole but I'll gladly praise or scrutinize the marketing that's being presented. That's all I have to go off of.

I'm not a videographer or editing guru but right off the bat I would have saved 90% of the money shots the trailers have shown for the actual movie itself. If it's supposed to be a homage to monster movies of old they should have cut it that way. Kind of like the first Jurassic Park trailer.

Yeah, I agree. It's not that it looks terrible, it just looks fake and feels fake...all of it. I don't get the feeling I got when I saw Cloverfield...the feeling of damn that thing is real and terrifying.

Maybe seeing it on the big screen will sway me. I also get what GDT is going for, a fun throwback monster movie...so I should take that into consideration.

Very good point. That was by biggest issue with the final battle of Man of Steel. It just looked like a cut/paste generic CG city with no depth or "life"

I guess I'm just over the CG-everything shtick. Avatar is the only modern movie like that that works for me.

Leave it to you to say what I was too kind to say. :oldrazz: Listen I want to see the film and I think that I will like the film but as far as domestic box office goes I think that the movie is doomed.

I'm not happy about that but that's just what I see happening. It's unfortunate, if it is a good movie, that the marketing has been so poorly handled. For some reason the studio waited to release a general audience trailer 10 days before the film's release. Certainly I want to be wrong but for some reason Bourne Legacy numbers keep popping into my head and I don't know why because the two films aren't related. I guess it could crack 40mil but I don't see much more than that. It almost confirms that Warners doesn't care because they don't have a huge stake in the film.

I just got back from a screening. Movie is awesome. Everything I wanted. It's a great adventure start to finish. While I stepped out of Man of Steel a little disappointed, not so here. It's pretty much exactly what I wanted. I got a very Jurassic Park kinda feel from it. They have the same "dire adventure" feel. Del Toro does great in explaining and crafting this world.

Only people who won't like this are people are people who are just too cynical. People who would just outright reject the entire premise.

They have actually done a great job not showing anything at all. This movie has a lot of heart and the trailers and TV spots really haven't shown much.

If you have any questions, shoot em.
