Pacific Rim - Part 3

How is the human element? How is the score? From the snippets I've heard from the clips it sounds rather cooky.

I just got back from a screening. Movie is awesome. Everything I wanted. It's a great adventure start to finish. While I stepped out of Man of Steel a little disappointed, not so here. It's pretty much exactly what I wanted. I got a very Jurassic Park kinda feel from it. They have the same "dire adventure" feel. Del Toro does great in explaining and crafting this world.

Only people who won't like this are people are people who are just too cynical. People who would just outright reject the entire premise.

They have actually done a great job not showing anything at all. This movie has a lot of heart and the trailers and TV spots really haven't shown much.

If you have any questions, shoot em.

One question for now: [BLACKOUT]I hear there is an after credits scene. Is it important or just irrelevant? Meaning sequel setup etc.?[/BLACKOUT]

Glad to hear that.

Yes, this is a mid credits scene. As for importance:

It doesn't setup a sequel but it is a nice surprise/funny moment.

Maybe I'm overanalyzing, but Charlie Hunnam's American accent sounds a little weird. I mean, technically it's okay, but it makes him sound kind of stiff and unnatural, at least from what I've heard.

Some British actors give stiffer performances as American characters. It's like they're concentrating so much on maintaining their accent that it takes away from their overall acting.

How about the score?

People keep hating on the 5 seconds of what they here in the clips.

And...In an attempt to stray from spoilers, do you think this will be well received?

Score is great. If people just don't like that type of music though what can ya do. It works well and the theme is used very well.

The dramatic scenes have a great sound that calls back to Godzillaish music. Very big and bold and dramatic.

I must say it's a little frustrating to see all of the action..either during the night, soaked either in the ocean or a storm, or both. Seriously.

I think the final trailer is epic, and really makes me want to see it now. But I agree that Del Toro staged too many battles at night and during storm. It makes it seemed like the CGI studios used the darker environment to hide their deficiency. In that Jurassic Park scene, when they first encountered dinosaurs, it was daytime and still remains as one of the most impressive special effects scenes ever.

Did the movie showcase many different mechs against the monsters, not just the mech from US? And how's the relationship between the two main pilots in the movie?

The fights being at night really doesn't detract from the action. It kinda enhances it. There is a brief battle during the day and it's cool as well.

I imagine it's very difficult to act while making up an accent. Some actors are great at it, some are pretty good at it, some are okay at it and some are bad at it. Hunnam's acting seems alright to me. I'm not on the Hunnam bandwagon right now. He's okay and hot but I'm not sure I really, really like him. I'm sure he'll be fine in the film, he looks fine from the clips I've seen. Maybe I need to watch Sons of Anarchy, it's on my Netflix Queue.

His character is likable, I was under the impression he'd be more of a dick.

The only thing I've seen Hunnam in was an indie movie called Green Street Hooligans with Elijah Wood in 2005, where I thought he was pretty good.

I haven't seen him in any of his other stuff.

That's where I first saw him...dem abs. *shakes away memories* Um what was I talking about again? Oh yeah, I really liked him in that film.

He does well on Sons of Anarchy. But not sure how that would translate into his role in Pacific Rim.

Autonet, can you tell me if the movie showcase many different mechs against the monsters, not just the mech from US? And how's the relationship between the two main pilots in the movie?

You see all 4 of the main mechs fight the monsters. Gipsy Danger is the hero so you see it the most.

Relationship between the two main pilots is good, I liked the way it was done.
