When Sandler said he called Jim Carrey during the movie to tell him how funny he was, why was my first initial reaction this?

Great to here. Need to build off that first film. Need solid character development with Sonic and Tails.

Sonic 2 should introduce Planet Mobius. Get around the human problem by having a "human-like" species that also inhabits Mobius. Make it so when we meet Robotnik again, he's already taken over the planet and become a despot ruler. So, Sonic is partially responsible. Have the Resistance and animal Freedom Fighters resent Sonic for being the cause of this.

Sonic 2 needs to be about Sonic leaving Earth and embracing his role as a hero. All the Sonic wants to say in podunk Green Hill, Montana was garbage. So move away from that. You can make it a character arc for Sonic having to leave home and trying to find his place in the world/multiverse/whatever, being scared and unsure of himself. So basically by the end of it, Sonic can finally sort of grow into the rogue-ish, mischievous hero and freedom fighter leader.

You're welcome Paramount, I just gave you the outline for the sequel.

If it's just more Sonic and James Marsden get into shenanigans on Earth again, plus Tails, no thank you.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2....& Knuckles.

I don't know if I want the Teaser Poster too be Tails's tails making the 2 or Knuckles knuckles making the 2

Except the Freedom Fighters are pretty much have been cast in the void of legal limbo after the whole Ken Penders/Archie Fiasco even with SEGA actually owning the rights to Sally, Bunnie, Antonie and Rotor. Mobius is even a blacklisted word at SEGA.

Expect nada zilch from the comics except for an at most maybe a blink and you miss cameo from the current IDW run which SEGA is deeply involved in (which is actually really good, worth a read during QT IMO). All of this is gunna come from the games.

Who knows what will happen but odds are we're probably going to get some amalgamation of Sonic 2/3& Knuckles.

There's a lot right in this post.

I haven't seen the first movie because I am bored to death of the "cartoon transported to the real world" trope. Take us to Mobius in the sequel and I'll check it out.

Hell, outside of Robotnik I wouldn't even worry about having human characters at all. Let's not pretend that James Marsden was a big draw for the first movie.

It doesn't have to be planet Mobius. I mean Archie Comics didn't create the Freedom Fighters or any of those characters, so they shouldn't own them. Also, they don't necessarily have to be those Freedom Fighters. They can be the other game characters. The Chaotix dudes, what have you. I think that's the basic premise they need to work with.

The point is, get Sonic the hell off Earth. Sonic should be wanting to explore and go on adventures.

Speaking of being owned by SEGA, if you wanna see some really tripy stuff....check out Sally's concept art from back in the day

That's exactly what it's going to be. Sonic finding his place on Earth and establishing a family laid the groundwork for what the Sonic Movie franchise will be. That doesn't mean Sonic won't travel to other worlds, and we won't get more characters (I think Knuckles is a given in the sequel) but his relationship with Tom as a foster parent (And James Marsden as a leading man in this series) while also finally being accepted by the town of Green Hills was what the filmmakers wanted 'Movie Sonic' to be.

I think Sonic will inveitably go back to Mobius with Tails & Knuckles but it will likely be at the very end of a 3rd film as he wishes Tom a tearful goodbye.
