Very likely. But they where probably useful to protect his eyes as well!
The way you worded it made it sound like it was a decision The Riddler made for his costume to undo the menace.
Funny. I was watching Se7en last night and noticed that John Doe used glasses in his disguise, yet he could see perfectly fine without them. His glasses surely didn’t make him any less menacing to his victims.
John Doe wore glasses as the reporter, along with a wig. We don't know if this was his disguise when it came to killing his victims, though. If anything, wearing glasses would likely be used to not make himself look menacing when first approaching these people.
I find it funny you guys are so against the idea the Riddler might actually need to wear prescription lenses. You think he looked at himself in his costume and thought "You know what would really pull this together? Glasses."?
If the glasses are part of his persona, then they're part of his persona the way an inhaler is for an asthmatic.
I was going to make a joke about how short of a time frame it was, and then I realized when we see Dano it'll be TEN YEARS since Hardy's performance. Where the hell did time go?!I gotta say, I feel like Dano is gonna give us one of the best Villain performances in a long time! at least since Bane in TDKR.
I just thought it was weird to act as though we hadn't already had a landmark comic book movie villain performance since Hardy, in the form of Joaquin Phoenix.Tbh I thought Hardy's Bane was too goofy, so he's not a high water mark to me for CBM villains (which was disappointing as a big Hardy fan, though he definitely goes overboard sometimes and IMO that was one of the times).
I feel like this fits his M.O. and the overall gothic vibes I've been getting from the trailer
