Paul Dano is Edward Nashton aka "The Riddler"

No, we don’t know if Nashton wears glasses in this. That’s his “kill suit” so he’s covering up everything. We’ll know for sure when we actually see Edward Nashton when he’s not committing a planned murder.

We don’t know that, but we do know that The Riddler wears glasses in this. That’s not up for debate! His costume has glasses!

IDK, really think you’re overthinking this one? Why do people assume he wears glasses? Maybe because Edward Ngyma has very commonly been portrayed wearing glasses? BTAS is one of the only pieces of media in which Riddler’s alter ego DOESN’T wear glasses. There’s no alter ego in 66. Carrey wore glasses in Forever. Gotham has Ngyma wearing glasses. The Arkhamverse Ngyma wears glasses. Various animated versions wear glasses. Add in the serial killer angle and it only makes it stronger.

It’s like Penguin’s monocole or top hat or Mr Freeze having goggles. Sometimes they have it, sometimes they don’t, but it’s an established part of the characters iconography.

All I’m saying is I don’t think he needs to wear glasses and there’s no real proof right now that he does. Most of the movies, tv shows I’ve seen or comics I’ve read he doesn’t. Soo we’ll see! I’m not over thinking lol. You’re the one google searching images to prove a point :)

Also, Carrey only wears glasses in the beginning of Forever before he becomes the Riddler. I stopped watching Gotham before Riddler I think. Most of my memories are no glasses.

I'd personally replace the top hat with the umbrella. Dapper tuxedo Penguin isn't really that common anymore; nowadays they usually just give him a fur coat or the umbrella.

Nygma wasn’t given glasses until the 90’s. He’s been around since the 30’s and hasn’t needed them all of that time.

Which movies does Dano wear glasses in other than Prisoners?

Ruby Sparks and Knight and Day as well. And he wears them IRL.

I feel like this fits his M.O. and the overall gothic vibes I've been getting from the trailer

I believe he wore sunglasses, in his Lake Berryessa costume, obviously to protect his eyes from harsh sunlight.

Zodiac said he only looks that way when he kills and that normally he looks quite different. I honestly believe the glasses were used to obscure his eyes. It’s actually a smart thing to do to have authorities looking for a guy that needs glasses and he literally doesn’t need glasses.
