Days of Future Past Peter Dinklage as Bolivar Trask - Official Thread

Bolivar Trask already appeared in X3, he was the African-American guy who worked for Homeland Security. Not that they're going to let something like that stop them from bringing in characters they want, of course.

Nor should they. Giving a nod to the sentinels in X3 wasn't worth wasting characters like Trask on.

Maybe Trask in X3 is a midget using an image inducer.

Xavier and Magneto are 60 or a little In early 60's.They aren't In their 70's.That would mean they would be about 80 In DOFP.And that's not right. You also are forgetting It's also easier to say Beast was In mid 50's when you match up up first class and last stand than say beast was In his 60's.

Again this is all about assuming things. We don't know their exact age, so need to argue about if Professor X and Magneto were in their 60s and 70s in the original trilogy. And the decision to cast James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender as the younger version of ProfX/Magneto has nothing to do with their age, but their talent.

The news release stated he would be the main antagonist and not the main villian. There is a difference. An antagonist is working against the interests of the protagonist but could be a "good guy". A villian is just a bad guy against anything good. So, if he's Trask which fits the definition of antagonist (look up Bolivar Trask and you will understand) so a main villian has to be introduced to trigger Trask's Sentinel program (and I can't imagine Magneto becoming a time warping terrorist). What if the main villian is someone like Bastion or Fitzroy redefined for the X-Films universe.

I always saw the main antagonist as the main villain. Now I learned something new.

You really need to get the animated series out of your head.

The future with sentinles Is caused by assassination by Brotherhood In present of human politican. There's no time wraping terrorist.

Now assuming Nixon hasn't been turned Into target here Trask may be target. If sentinles are seen at all In 1973 part of film It would be as early protype. With more advanced film version of classic sentintles In future part of film.

You have Trask and people In government working on weapons against Mutants. You have magneto and brotherhood planning to kill those working on weapons. You have Sentinles In future. That Is enough threats for X-men to deal with.

In comics It was Mystique's brotherhood which triggered It.the 1990's animated series loose adaptian mostly had that right except for having Apocalpse as one behind It.Here Magneto will almost certinly be behind this planned assassination/Attack.

Lol, they could be the same at times. I'm just hoping for a big bad evil villian for the movie as well (no pun intended).

No at MJdiddy1.Especilly on the thinking future Is caused by time wraping villain.

That was One man's worth. The animated show's version of AOA.

Marvel, I am well versed in the comics as I have been reading them since the late 70's. I am aware that the Brotherhood attacked the White House and Trask's response was the creation of the Sentinel program but I'm also aware that as my definition of antagonist fits Trasks. He views mutants as a threat to humanity eventhough his own son is one. He creates the Sentinels (Master Mold) to capture or kill all mutants. In one of those raids Beast is captured and Trask uses a device to read his mind and realizes that the X-Men who are mutants are here to protect mutants and humans alike. He then sacrifices himself to help the X-Men to stop his creations. The reason I say the big bad can be Bastion is because Nimrod, a time traveling sentinel from the future merges with Master Mold and form Bastion who then resurrects Trask in the future. This is not a cartoon, this is from the book and just an idea of how this could work and I'm not saying this is what they are doing but it could be an avenue they could take.

Sentinles In future and Trask and Brotherhood In 1973 Is enough with villians without going the overly complicated bastion or Nimroid route. They already have more villains than the avengers.Sorry It's the truth.with Trask and Brotherhood that's already more villains than Loki with sentinles In future the equilvent of ailen race In Avengers.

Time Travel and sentinles alone are enough new scifi Ideas to add to X-Men films.

I hear your argument but the movie is time-travel based (Days of Future Past) if anything there will me one other major bad guy from the X-verse added which would be Ahab whom I assumed Dinklage would originally be playing because of his...stature.

Actually Bill Duke has Apocalypse like facial features. They could have had HIM be Trask then have it revealed he's Apocalypse. It could be a build up thing.

The news release stated he would be the main antagonist and not the main villian

Um, the main antagonist IS the main villain of any story, tv, movie, book, game etc.

the term 'villain' is something kind of infant.

Its mainly used in movies, shows, etc done for young teenagers/kids.

Human beings are more complex than that. And X-men franchise is and should be more complex than just good guys vs villain guys

In the animated series, they kept the assassination attempt. There it was Mystique posing as Gambit trying to kill Senator Kelly. They just changed the time traveler in the series and made it Bishop. Part of that was because they cut Shadowcat out of the series.

would be GREAT to see young Mystique morphing into a x-man before trying to kill the politician.

the question is which x-men?

Id leave out Beast, since the goverment would know that there is a mutant on the white house (or whatever the location is), so would be really cool to see Mystique as Havok or Banshee. Specially Havok, at least to me
