just for the hell of it I went back to skim through that thread, and I don't think thunder was being that rude. yes maybe the discussion he intended to initiate never really was facilitated in the thread, but i've seen people say waaaay ruder things than anything in that thread.

As I said at the end of the referenced thread, yes, Thunder, the only reason I post is to spite you. As silly and nonsensical and devoid of any real logic this is, it must clearly be true.

I dunno about emulation but I think they said legacy titles are gonna come to psnow in the future and by that they have to mean Ps1/2 games

Well, I'm not crazy about paying for games I already own. But that's not really the issue. I have a lot of underrated PS2 games that I would like to play (JRPGs mostly) and I just don't see them being added.

Although after Suikoden I and II my hopes have increased somewhat.

To get back to the topic at hand. At E3 this year, it'll be interesting to see what actually happens in regards to new, non-remaster games from Sony. I guess I never realized how much of the library between the PS3 and 360 were third party. I guess with so many either gone or downsized, it's really created a bit of a void.

i've said this before, but although christmas 2014 sales indicates that sony doesn't necessarily need a big game Q4 to push Ps4 sales, their holiday push is incomplete without one.

for this reason among others, they need something. someone suggested tearaway to come out Q4, and I think they said somewhere that they're targeting a summer release for that, but even if it does release Q4 i don't that it's gonna be a big enough highlight to "fill the void" if you will, for Uc4.

yeah, that was my point with the second paragraph.

sony doesn't need a big game for the holidays for accomplishing their agenda (making money) - but, they still need one because they just need to deliver something more than just worthwhile on their console.

"4theplayers", huh. i'm confident they'll announce something good at e3, and not just a measly nathan drake collection.

I would argue this is not just the fault of Sony and MS. But the development circle as a whole. For some reason (probably worries of profit) devs/publishers really straddled this generation. By not fully making the jump. I think many publishers were just too afraid to go to something with a smaller customer base which is sad. It's hard to believe that after 1.5 years we will finally start getting some true next generation games. Good thread. I think that both MS and Sony will have to really impress. I don't think that it will ultimately destroy them if not, I think most of the GA does not care as much about it. But we need some games that just blow us away. Third party or first.

I think, too, part of that is that budgets last generation have ballooned a lot since the beginning of last gen, so that probably attributed a good deal to why there was so much trepidation about going head first into a new gen.

Well, timeline wise, I definitely don't think they were rushed. The last generation last 8 years, so for the better part of the decade. But as far as production wise, it's possible I suppose. There's been rumors MS rushed the Xbone out because Sony ended up announcing and dating the PS4 much sooner than expected, explaining why it's slightly behind power-wise. But who knows how true that really is.

I honestly wouldn't have minded if the 7th gen carried on for another 2 or 3 years. That would've meant a 10 year life cycle of the Ps3 and 11 for the 360. however, some have speculated that one of the reasons the Ps4 has been flying off the shelves faster than even the Ps2 is because consumers are/were hungry for a new console.
