PlayStation Firmware Updates

Most likely. I'll wait and see how long the 3 month free thing lasts. If its only available this month I'll get it. If not, I may wait and see whats offered next month. I already have Wipeout HD, so them offering it free does nothing for me

I'll be getting it. I don't have Wipeout so that is nice incentive for me.

Have there been any examples of the 'discount' members will receive on PSN purchases?

they said 20 to 50%, possibl more in some cases; basically the type of sales they currently have.

No. If you sign up for a 12 month subscription when it launches, you get three extra months. So 15 months for 50 bucks.

So I just signed up for Plus.

I've only bought 2 PSN games prior, Shatter and Fat Princess, so i'll probably be able to take full advantage of these monthly free games. I downloaded Wipeout and bought MKII with the discount.

I'm excited to see where this goes! I hope Flow and Flower are free at some point. :yay:

I'm gonna try the 3 month subscription, see if I like it, if I do, then I'll do a year when it runs out, if I don't like it at least I gave it a shot

I tried out the Plus too with the 3 month thing, I haven't been blown away yet with anything. I don't buy things from the Store as often as some of my other friends so it may not be for me. *shrug* What I don't want to happen is to miss a great deal as soon as my subscription runs out or something if I choose not to renew.

Anyone else having controller assignment issues at the moment? I can't seem to turn my system on using just the controller anymore (at least for the last couple nights).

Reset your controller. On the bottom is a little pinhole next to the top screw. Press and hold the button for a few seconds. Plug your controller into your PS3 and press the PS button. This should do the trick.

Sweet. I don't a 3DTV (probably won't get one for a very long time), but I'm happy for those who do have them.

Hmm, it seems to have worked. But it's still incredibly glitchy, I still can't turn the system on with the controller. If I try it just continually blinks until I plug it back into the PS3. Trying to assign it not being plugged in seems to make it blink forever without assignment. Last time I had a problem like this it was fixed through an update. Does charging your controller through your computer USB cause a problem like this? It's how I've always charged the controller overnight etc.

Hmm. I have always charged it with my PC. How old is the controller? It might be the battery. The battery is really cheap and easy to replace. Here are some examples:

Wow, thanks alot :) I'll use those sites and try that. The controller is almost a year old as I bought my first PS3 as a Slim last August. I'm glad that battery is cheap . It must be the battery I suppose 'cause I used my 2nd controller I bought with a bundle of LBP with no problem just now. For a while earlier today that 1st controller wasn't working at all pretty much. Not even trying to be assigned to the system. Thanks again

No problem. I hope it all works out.

I try to get the word out about the batteries as much as I can. You wouldn't believe how many people think they have to get a whole new controller when the battery dies.:woot:

Ha, that's the thing, I didn't know replacing batteries on the controller was necessary. Testing that 1st controller now, it doesn't really work on it's own anymore. I'll just use my 2nd one for now since it's basically new until I get a new battery for the original.

They really aren't that bad. I have a Mitsubishi 65" DLP that is 3D and it's going for about $1200. Which isn't too bad for an INCREDIBLE tv.

I think the prices are very good, but I just bought an Sammy HDTV a couple of years ago. I can't justify making another major purchase for something I just bought. Maybe in a couple more years I can.

I definitely understand then. The only downside with the DLPs is you have to buy an adapter so that the TV will support all types of 3D. So I am going to have to buy that adapter and glasses (1 for now). So I will be spending a little over $200 for the adapter AND the glasses. From what I have heard so far is that the 3D in home cinema is MUCH better than what you see in the theater, because the quality of the glasses is SO much greater.

Yeah, give it 3 years or so and we'll start seeing the $500-700 models.

New tech is always a catch 22 tho. If someone doesn't get the ball rolling, then mass adoption may never be reached and it may be forgotten. However to get that ball rolling you have to hook early adopters despite an incredibly high price.

Just this generation alone we saw Blu-Ray come out and ppl complain and moan about the price and doubted it'd survive a few years, and now gradually it's went from a fraction of a fraction of movie sales to a pretty respectible amount.

3D TV's are almost a repeat in that it's a new high priced tech that ppl aren't convinced they need to upgrade to, let alone at that price. Of course I put in the almost because DVD's are older and you can see the value in upgraded for not only a better picture, but online features, and much more space. Whereas 3D TV's put ppl off with the glasses, and don't offer as big of an upgrade.

I dunno, I've warmed up to 3D TV's a bit. However I'm not going to buy one until the price drops dramtically, I don't even have all of my old SD TV's replaced with HD's yet. That and 3D isn't an important feature to me yet. Down the road I'm sure some awesome stuff will come from the tech, but now it's just too early in it's infancy. Plus, at the rate they tried to skip past HD TV's, I have a feeling the next TV upgrade will probably only be another 5 or so years off.

Ok so wow, now my 2nd (new) controller is screwing up and not assigning. I'm looking some stuff online to try and see what's wrong, I'm guessing my computer setup may be running an interference? But it seems a bit late though that's for sure.
