PlayStation Firmware Updates

that'd be cool but it would be nice if we could get a youtube app so when you play a online match you could upload that match onto youtube that would be really cool
Its already a feature of the PS3, but like many of the PS3s features, its up to the developer to utilize it. youtube uploading was added to the Software Development Kits in spring of 2008. The PS3 is capable of doing alot, but most people forget or simply dont know

3.10 Preview:

Hi everyone, here’s an early peek at PlayStation 3 (PS3) firmware update (v3.10). The latest update incorporates Facebook into the PS3 experience. By linking your PlayStation Network account to your Facebook account, you will have the option for the PS3 to automatically update your Facebook News Feed with Trophy and PlayStation Store activity. This update also enables developers to set specific criteria in their titles to publish additional game information to your News Feed. You can then check out your updates, and those of your friends, on Facebook, Twitter, and other social media favorites through the PS3’s built-in web browser.
This is just the beginning of our integration with Facebook and we are looking forward to adding new features enhancing the experience in future updates.
Additional highlights from update 3.10 include:
  • The Photo category on the XMB has been revamped to make it easier to see more of your photos stored on the PS3.
  • The PSN Friends List has been modified based on feedback we received after update 3.00. Additionally, you can now choose a color for your PSN ID on the XMB.

Hmmm as far as the Friends List I really hope they allow us to group friends and add descriptions like you can to the media stored on your PS3. I ahve alot of friends that I have no clue who they are. It would be great to group them based on where I know them from

There should be a feature for holding down the PS button to click to play whatever disc is inside the system instead of navigating to Game or Movie, sometimes I'm lazy :hehe:

I thought it was highly disappointing that thier update to the friends list amounted to changing what color is in your profile. They really need to allow us to group and/or add descriptions to friends already

I haven't noticed the facebook or the abc viewer... when is the next update coming?

Facebook is in a really random place...i cant actually remember where. but atm all it does is status update when you unlock trophies then sinc to the sony server. kinda cool though.

does everyone get the ABC viewer? like people outside the us?

Is there any kind of shortcut or trick for when your controller is having a hard time pairing with your PS3 upon bootup?

that only started happening more often to me recently, sometimes when i turn the ps3 off while the controller lights are still blinking, it seems to sync then and the ps3 turns back on with the controller working, i guess you could try that

Hmm interesting, I'll try that too. I typed a few more details on what I was talking about in the MW2 thread but here's a little more info in case you or anyone else has similar problems
I figure I'll ask this here since no one has answered me yet in Sony, but there are a few veteran PS3 users here ey? Is there a common problem with pairing the PS3 controller with the system upon bootup? I'd say for a while maybe a period of 6-7 times after turning off and on my system the lights on the controller will continue to flash during a startup to pair with the system but never does. Then I reset and bootup and it pairs that time after restarting. Anyone have similar problems? (I keep my controller charged up anytime I'm not using it through my computer USB which is basically always on)

Try resetting your controller. On the back of the controller, to the right of the top screw, is a button. You need something thin to press it. This resets it.

This may help as well JaD.
Firmware 3.15 This Week

Fixes for the controller pairing, the ability to play PSP Minis on your PS3 and the option to transfer data between two PS3s linked via an ethernet cable.

They really need to have more PSN/PS3/PSP compatible games. They seemed to be better about this when the PS3 first came out but its pretty rare these days
