Poltergeist remake...

I hope Sawyer doesn't send me creepy clown doll in the mail.

Oh please, Spidey, I'd never do that to you...

I'll just send this guy

My thoughts exactly and I actually like Insidious way more than Poltergeist. So my unpopular opinion gets more unpopular I assume.

I hope Sawyer doesn't send me creepy clown doll in the mail.

I always thought of it as a good reimagining.

Spidey forced my hand. :o

So i rewatched the trailer, and what I don't like is the awful cinematography. It makes the movie looks cheap.

Also, I have a rule: If Jared Harris is in the cast, it'll be a bad movie. Sure he was good in Sherlock 2, but his track record is kinda bad. He's like the new Malcolm McDowell/Ben Kingsley.

God is innnnnnn his holy tem...ple.

Love that guy.

Just Insidious? Not The Conjuring or Haunting in Connecticut or any of the other carbon copy ghost movies that have come out the last decade or so? Seriously, Poltergeist is a damn classic. I'd even go as far as calling it probably my favorite ghost movie ever. It's definitely one of my all time favorite horror movies. I dunno. Guess it's a bit of a nostalgia thing but that movie messed me up as a kid. Even watching it today it still hits a chord with me.

It's just redundant to remake it when the original has influenced so many movies in the past 30 years.

Also, it's MGM doing it's remake thing, and it ain't working.

Yea, I think it's seriously one movie that just doesn't needa be remade. Like Indiana Jones or Star Wars. It's pretty timeless. Even though it feels dated in some ways it's just a great movie that doesn't needa be touched. I usually don't hate on remakes that much but this is just one that is in every way unneeded.

IF I had to remake something, I would for it to have some sort of legacy. How can my version live up to the original/or will it be remembered decades from now?

But in most cases, remakes are just designed to bank on the 'branding', instead of creating a new artistic take.

They remake these films to cash in on the new generations. And also appeal to some nostalgics. I personally don't care about them either. Poltergeist was one of my all time favorite films.

The thing about Poltergeist is that the most effective scares weren't the clown doll or the dead bodies in the pool or any of the s*** like that. It was Zelda Rubinstein's tiny ass telling the parents that their daughter is stuck where they can't get her with an angry, evil spirit and it's using her. Those childish fears are cheap. The adult fear of the movie is gold.

And the parents being able to speak to her from wherever she was, but not able to do anything when they could hear her screaming and being terrorized. It’s the scariest part of the movie.

Saw the original in theaters as a 10 year old and i thought it was awesome and scared the the bejeezus out of me. It still holds up for me but this looks like your typical modern day pg-13 horror movie remake that will suck.

I was 8 when it was released in theaters, and I wasn’t allowed to see it then, but I saw it when it first came on HBO a year or so later and it scared the crap out of us back then. We used to dare each other to see how much of it we could watch before we got too scared had to turn it off. It was like our gateway horror movie, before we got into the heavier stuff later. :funny:

It’s obviously a little dated now as far as special effects, but I just love the movie anyway. Still one of my favorite horror movies.

The trailer for the new one just looks a pointless retread of stuff we’ve already seen. Oh that clown? Yep, we did that again. Little girl with the hands on the TV. Yep, saw that already too...

I can't remember if it was the original or sequel , but the girl talking to her dead grandmother on a toy phone was creepy as hell. The effects might be outdated , but the film is still effective. I guess if you grew up in a different era and watched other films like The Grudge first then you might be desensitized.

I've had all kinds of ideas for movies that could use remakes. Especially some horror movies. I've been waiting for Altered States and Videodrome remakes for years. Although, Videodrome could be hard to pull off these days and when they were trying to remake it it sounded ****ing horrible. Altered States though, that's one of my favorites and I think it could really be done some justice nowadays especially with the way studies and our understanding of psychedelic compounds have advanced in the last 30 some odd years since it was initially released.

Well that poster can go right back to hell where it came from.

I know many are hating on this but I don't give a ****, I'm excited haha.

I know, from that pic, exactly what it's going to be like...I won't say good, or bad...but I know the tone and direction it's going JUST from that pic alone...They're going to give us all the corny ****e from the original, in a Insidious vibe...

Digging the poster, not so sure about the movie but I'll see it in theaters.
