Power Rangers 4.0

I watched a raw of it myself earlier this morning. Was pretty interesting. Really need to see a sub so i get what they were saying/other story points i dont get at the moment. Should be fun to see how this series turns out.

I think the acting is getting a little better on Samurai. Not that I think it's like Emmy, Golden Globe level but the cast seem to be letting their personalities and sense of humor out a little more despite how cheesy the writing and material they have to work with is.

And honestly, I thought the dialogue and writing for the RPM special was pretty well done. I like the new villains that will be joining up with Xandred.

Go-Busters is amazing so far. It feels like a fusion of Sentai and Kamen Rider.

The whole Govt Agent aspect seems so US-inspired, and yet I almost don't want to see this series be ruined by an American adaption.

it probably be a mix of lightspeed/timeforce/spd for us adaptation.

Speaking of inspirations, I can't help but notice some from Evangelion:

- Three youngsters selected from a young age to fight the enemy. The main character is the new guy who only just started taking an active role in the conflict.

- The military-themed mission control with its dedicated support team and a full crew maintaining the giant machines that the heroes use to fight the enemy.

- Giant mechanical entities invading the city in order to reach a mysterious (thus far not fully explained) structure.

Really reminds me of Evangelion, which would be awesome. However, if this is indeed the case and the creators are taking its cues from Evangelion, I don't think we're prepared for it.

Yeah, Gobusters is here and I'm quite literally blown away by its first episode. It has a mixture of Super Sentai and Kamen Rider, and instead of science fantasy and magic that other sentai series of recent focused on, this one feels more like science fiction with its attention to realism. Real-time henshin sequence, a functional cockpit, and weapons transporting direction from HQ instead of hammerspace are some of the things they have in the series. I'm really looking forward to ep 2 and the rest of the series already.

I haven't thought of that, but if it's true then they couldn't have picked a better series to emulate.

Probably not.

The show needs Judd Lynn back to get to Lightspeed and Timeforce's quality.

Samurai/Super Samurai is easily becoming the worst PR seasons ever produced. It's shameful. I never thought anything would knock Turbo out of that spot.

Just cause how samurai was handled doesn't really give a fair deal how other series will be. Each bring thhere own issues to the matter. Samurai if you followed it production/casting had many issues. So really who's to say how next series will be. Same goes for producing crew. We have no clue at this time if some more producers will come in, current lower end producers get bumped up in control. Or if they where to get folks like doug sloan, jackie m, or judd back.

Chip already stated he isn't returning. The execs didn't give him the control he wanted.

He was what the franchise needed.

What issues are you referring to?

I don't even think Saban Brands, Tzachor and the writers are aware or care how laughably bad the show is, as long as the toys and marketing sell the product.

This entire season has been about product placement over anything else.

Samurai has one dimensional characters...or caricatures, barely existent plots and storylines, horrible mindless dialogue, and dreadful acting to top it off.

It is the lowest PR has ever sunk.

well yes I know chip didn't come back now for samurai. That doesn't really rule out him or others possibly coming back in the future. We never know there.

As for issues with samurai. The main stuff. Was limited/rush production to get first 20 episodes ago. Which lead to copy/paste deal. Then trouble with casting stage where a lot of actors walked out. And we where left with slime pickings.

And another thing we do have to remember the show is design for kids ie the 6-11 demo. And from most its been hitting the demo good. Now yes looking at production side of things. It hasn't been the best.

But another thing to look at. Samurai was the first time in nearly a decade folks like saban/jt have touched pr. Or even been working on tv or children's programining. So it does take time to get babck in the groove of things. Heck look at early mmpr for example. We really didn't hit stread to in space- time force period. Every series can't be perfect. You will have some duds along the way.

Only thing you can hope for is they learn from there mistakes. And come up with better things. This also goes for them delaying/extending creative pre production and casting for the next series. So they can make a better product hopefully.

So like I said just cause one series may be a dud. Doesn't mean future ones can't turn out to be a better product. We seen it happen before with bad seasons then we hit a good one/okk one.

We know next to nothing on next series. Don't know who is writing it. Same goes for production side of things folks could leave folks could be brought back. Its all up in the air.

Put it this way, if things don't change and improve drastically... the show will continue to be a joke.

And the only reason we got great writing during PRiS-TF was the addition of Judd Lynn towards the midway point of Turbo, when the show at hit rock bottom.

I'd love for someone new to come in and dethrone Tzachor and his hack team, but I'm not optimistic this will happen for the next series.

They have no reason to change up the formula they have in Samurai. It's making them money through all the toy promotion and marketing.

Check out the ratings the show has been pulling. It's extremely successful.

From the production side some positives you can take: Production values all very high. The show looks great. Sets look good. It's a very polished look.

It looks very good in high definition.

Yes that is nice. But like I pointed out things could improve we seen it before. Same goes its been ages for some on the show. So in time things can get better.

Marketing for PR does seem to be doing the trick but the show itself is lacking.

I saw an episode of Super Samurai. Some of the unmorphed action seems to have received a kick-up but I find myself, overall, uninspired by the cast.

I honestly think that Paul L. Schrier should've returned for a more viable and worthy PR Series for the beloved character of Bulk. He just seems like a character tacked on for nostalgia purposes... and honestly, there isn't any in this show for him nor the redone theme to attach too.

In general, PR needs original content in order for it to work. It should use what it needs to use from Sentai but the rest should be original. It needs to connect to the PR Universe is some way too (outside of a teamup).

Dan Southworth who played Eric on Timeforce was originally a stunt man before TimeForce

Now he's in a fanfilm

Street Fighter VS Tekken

He's playing Ryu

That is a pretty cool find there gold. That was a nice fan video.

The secret is out thanks to Home Media Magazine's story, so we can say at last that Shout! Factory has signed the deal to distribute DVDs (and Blu-rays, if they wish, although that's not initially expected) from Saban Capital Group's Saban Brands division. That includes the Haim Saban-created series Power Rangers, including all incarnations of the show from 1993 to 2009:

  • [*]Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers
    [*]Power Rangers Zeo
    [*]Power Rangers Turbo
    [*]Power Rangers in Space
    [*]Power Rangers Lost Galaxy
    [*]Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue
    [*]Power Rangers Time Force
    [*]Power Rangers Wild Force
    [*]Power Rangers Ninja Storm
    [*]Power Rangers Dino Thunder
    [*]Power Rangers S.P.D.
    [*]Power Rangers Mystic Force
    [*]Power Rangers Operation Overdrive
    [*]Power Rangers Jungle Fury
  • Power Rangers RPM
The deal reportedly does NOT include the current incarnation of the show, Power Rangers Samurai, nor does it include the theatrical films spun off from the program (Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers: The Movie and Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie, whose rights have been retained all along by Fox Home Entertainment).

However, the deal DOES include other Saban programs, including Big Bad Beetleborgs (a.k.a. Beetleborgs Metallix), V.R. Troopers, and the short-lived live-action show Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation. The HMM story by John Latchem reports that the "Initial rollout plans for the Saban are slated to begin in summer 2012, according to Shout! Factory, with single-season sets to start and potentially complete-series sets in the future."

Our understanding is that there's more to this than HMM is currently reporting, but then again this is just the initial announcement. Stay tuned and we'll try to bring you more, just as soon as we can!

The announcement was made today by Shout! Factory's founding partners Richard Foos, Bob Emmer and Garson Foos; and Elie Dekel, President of Saban Brands.

The multi-year alliance provides Shout! Factory with exclusive home entertainment packaged media (DVD/Blu-ray) and select digital rights to Saban Brands' extensive catalog of properties including more than 700 episodes of Power Rangers (1993- 2009), 92 episodes of VR Troopers, 26 episodes of Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation, and 88 episodes of Beetleborgs for home entertainment releases and digital distribution across select entertainment platforms in North America.

"We are incredibly excited about this new relationship with Saban Brands. Power Rangers continues to stand as a global pop culture phenomenon to this day. We look forward to bringing these highly entertaining series with great packaging and extras to fans and on family home entertainment shelves," state Shout! Factory's founding partners in a joint statement.

"Our partnership with Shout! Factory is important and exciting news for our fans. Shout! Factory will provide unequaled access to archived content from Saban Brands," said Elie Dekel, President of Saban Brands. "Fans can enjoy past episodes they haven't seen, relive some of the exciting entertainment in these episodes, or even share them with a new generation of fans."

Shout! Factory plans an aggressive rollout of Saban Brands television properties beginning this summer 2012, including from individual programs as well as complete series. As excitement builds for these upcoming home entertainment product-lines, Shout! Factory and Saban Brands will announce additional news and activities in forthcoming months.

Following its introduction in 1993, Saban's Power Rangers quickly became the most watched children's television program in the United States. Emphasizing the importance of teamwork, responsibility and helping others by following the adventures of a group of ordinary young people who "morphed" into superheroes, the series was seen in more than 60 countries, translated into numerous languages, and was a mainstay in the most prominent international children's programming blocks.

When VR Troopers premiered in 1994, it was the first children's series to take viewers into a world of virtual reality. In this exciting action-packed live-action series, three seemingly ordinary teens face the challenge of saving the world from total domination by a powerful ruthless industrialist and his evil alter-ego. With the gift of "inter-reality travel" the teens utilize the power to transform into crime-fighting superheroes and enter the high-tech sphere of Virtual Reality. They employ their strengths, explosive martial arts skills and newfound superpowers to prevent the evil Grimlord and his mutant armies from escaping the virtual plane and entering the real world.

Memorable live-action adventure series Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation debuted in 1997 on popular kids network. The series continued the fun-filled saga of Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello and Michelangelo, four genetically mutated turtles who have transformed into human sized, ninja-powered crime fighters living in the sewers of New York City. Soon the Ninja Turtles' world that they have come to know and love will change. If you thought Shredder was bad, wait until you meet the newest NT foe--Dragon Skull! It will take all the power of our four reptile heroes to combat this new villain, including the help from a new ninja turtle named Venus De Milo!

Premiered in 1996, popular weekly kids series Beetleborgs follows the exciting adventures of three ordinary kids Drew, Jo and Roland as they enter the supposedly haunted mansion after accepting a dare. Their lives changed forever when a magical spirit grants them their biggest wish - they get to find out what life is like as their favorite super heroes the Beetleborgs!

Well, there's only one thing to say about all this...

Yup cant wait to see price per seasons and of course what if any good bonus features. BE it deleted scenes, unaired episodes, any cast/crew interviews for x series.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Seasons 1 - 3 in one big bad ass box. No short handing that one

Would love if they could get some new interviews with the old casts though I know it probably wont happen so not getting my hopes up. Just happy that after all this waiting its finally coming.

well for mmpr s1-3 i would hope for the unaired pilots of day of the dumpster. Maybe those previews of today on power rangers/next time on power rangers added in. Then maybe any deleted scenes. Then at least maybe a retrospective interview with cast/crew maybe a mix of old interviews back in the day and from present with cast/crew on the show and its history. Then for other series dont really care what they do. Though for in space should be end of zordon feature, wildforce 10th anni feature, and same for oo for 15th.

I hope they includ the old interviews they had back in the day. I remembr they would include those on the vhs tapes. Maybe a Thuy Trang feature would be nice. Ok i need to stop getting ahead of myself. I know it will most likely be bare bones which I am fine with. But if they do MMPR as a complete series then that is going to be a pretty penny.

actually if you know of shout most folks say they are pretty good with bonus features and fan input on sets. So i would expect at least a few bonus stuff per season be it deleted scenes/interviews/etc.... stuff.
