In the first 'X-MEN', part of Wolverine's charisma is due to the fact he's ALMOST UNAWARE of the mutants, he's ALMOST UNAWARE to be a "mutant", he's OUT of everything, he's damn mysterious.
And above all: HE DOESN'T GIVE A **** ABOUT THE WORLD.

If they do a PREQUEL, they will waste the very beginning of the character and his involvement in the X-Men.

I don't agree at all. And you do realize that he had amnesia before X1. He was aware of other mutants but he didn't remember any of his past.

The Wolverine movie will be a movie of Wolverine before him joining the X-men, and believe me he's life is quite interesting.

I think a prequel was the best route to take:up:

ANAWARE!?
What’s the meaning of this?
Did you mean unaware?

His pre-X-MEN life should have been interesting, of course. But it has to REMAIN in the mystery if you want to keep Wolverine's charisma and magnetism ALIVE.

It would be good to make a 'Wolverine' movie as a real spin-off set after the events of X3, introducing more and more mutant characters. Not a 'X4 in disguise', but a true 'Wolverine movie' anyway, featuring Wolvie's villains (OMEGA RED?) and few other characters.

i like the prequel idea. wolvie's life is really interesting, especially before the x-men. his whole past is probably the most interesting of any superhero. and it will be action packed!!!
just my oppinion :D

I prefer a prequel over a continuation, because the Xmen films were centred on his character.

I like the idea of a prequel. That way a future X4 script won't have to be altered because of something that might happen in this one. Plus I think the non-comic fans might want to know more about the guy's past. :)

That's a perspective I did *NOT* previously thought about. Cheers!

my point too!:D

I think they almost have to do a prequel or else all the time spent on the dog tags, work w/Stryker, Professor's unwillingness to disclose too much, and Logan's desperate search for his memories is wasted and meaningless.

prequel is a better idea, I'ld want to see that over a continuation

When doing a movie about a solo character you really need to pick the story that defines the character better than any other. Many would pick a Japanese styled "Failed Samurai" Wolverine story. But the other important thing about superhero movies is the ORIGIN. And the story that is best best suited for both is the Weapon X story, We dont get the Mariko/samurai stuff, but we do get the origin of the adamantium, we get to see the worst berserker rage of all time, and we get to see Wolverine's mercenary/black ops background. Prequel is really the only way to go. Wolverine's character becomes less interesting when you tack him into a large group (X-Men) where he has to play by the rules of others.

And if they continue, we'll have a movie about a Wolverine in touch with his feelings and crying at every opportunity he gets.

"Snnff.... bub, it's so sad... just when Nick Cage gives up immortality to be with Meg Ryan... she goes an' dies... *boohoo*..."

oh crap, thats how the movie ended?I mustve forgotten.:o:o:o

being able to see what happened with him, Silver Fox, Sabretooth, Special Ops, and all of the experiments will be awesome. totally amazingly awesome. uhhhh... i need to take a cold shower now.

I just hope he quits getting his ayse handed to him by females.

I think a prequel is good and bad. It's cool for those of us who have an idea about his past, but at the same time it does lessen some of the impact he has in the other films. Wolverine is someone the audience could identify with because like him, they didn't know about his past. With a prequel, we'll chronologically learn everything about Wolverine ahead of time, so it does ruin his struggle a bit in my opinion.

I think the best way to handle it would have been to chronologically follow X3, and then in flashbacks show his past as he uncovers it. Plus, for those of us who think we may not get an X4, it gives us a bit of an X-sequel.

They can do a prequel and have omega Red in it. Wolverine just doesnt remember fighting him possibly in the X-Men films

wolverine is by FAR my LEAST favorite X-man.....that being said, i hope this movie is a days of future past story.

i think the only way they can do a Wolverine movie is to do a prequel. doing a continuation after X3 would involve alot of explaining about why he left, etc. and it could be turned into another X-Men movie because hes still one of them. if they do a prequel, the story will be focused only on wolverine with no distractions of the X-Men.
