Prince of Persia:The Sands of Time

I suppose Linkin Park or Metallica will do the soundtrack for the sequel.
I hope this movie is successful and video game movies become the new comic book movies. Peter Jackson's Legend Of Zelda and Ridley Scott's Metroid should be next!
Quentin Tarantino's Killer 7, JJ Abrams Mass Effect, James Cameron's Metal Gear Solid (basically the next Terminator) with Kojima as writer.

EDIT:

Linkin Park
LINK IN PARK
Wow! I never knew they were Legend of Zelda fans

After District 9, it wouldn't been great to see Halo - and I don't even like Halo.

For some reason this makes me think of a live-action adaptation of the Disney Aladdin flick. Dunno why. Well, I guess I partially know why...

Of course the first shot of Dastan high up overlooking the city made me think of Assassin's Creed and the leap of faith bit.

Double post. Bah.

Eww... please... Linkin Park and Metallica need to stay away from Prince of Persia. If ANYONE is going to the the music to the sequel it's Godsmack (since they actually contributed music to the game). And Linkin Park got their name from Lincoln Park in Santa Monica.

I have the original game on my PC somewhere....I loved the Sands of Time games...the newer one, its meh...looks pretty though

Trailer looks awesome! I'm a huge PoP fan, can't wait for the movie!

Not every film needs to be a masterpiece... light entertainment has its market too, and that's a good thing. If all films were masterpieces, then none of them would be. The bar would be raised as the standard, and the exceptional would then be average.
I agree. Some people take movies a little too seriously. I like to just chill out and watch a stupid but fun movie sometimes (Transformers 1 would be a good example of that.) .....but after seeing this trailer I cant say Im excited for this. This looks like The Mummy meets Pirates of the Carribean...and I like neither of those franchises (Pirates 1 was decent but the rest were terrible)

Big fan of the games, specifically the first one, and the trailer most definitely assaulted my senses. Several shots looked like they were lifted straight out of not only The Sands of Time, but you can even see some Warrior Within and a little Assassin's Creed!

I love it. Looks to be pure summer time escapist fun. Plus, Alfred Molina,.

Trailer looks ok to me, although PoP isnt really my cup of tea so I'm biased.

Gotta say though, Jakes accent is thouroughly excellent there.

ohhh yeah. money shot after money shot and tons of lens flares. a fun movie for relaxing.

and ye they speed the camera move. so dont start complaining that its unrealistic.
sweet

Agreed.
THe first and 3rd Pirates movie had very good acting from like the of Rush , Depp and the villains. KNeightley was meh , don't get me started on Orlando and Chow Yun Fat was there for the paycheck.

ANd since we are mentioning high budget movies with excellent acting.
Indy 4 .
LOTR
TDK

Just to name a few.
But dark_b is right. This movie will be big because it looks like popcorn fun.

Anyway so judging from the visuals , this movie can't have abudget lower then 200 million. So by the time the 3rd movie is released ,the budget will probably have risen to the 300 million mark.
from what i read the budget is $150 million

compared to what? I don't think any of us were around in Ancient Persia nor do I think they spoke English

This 150 million ?
No wayman. This massive scale with these VFX . 150 million is just a very low number .

If you've seen the last Potter movie , you can compare this with it in terms of scale. And the last Potter movie cost 250 million.
Better yet , the first Narnia movie with no name stars cost 180 million.

Ummm, compared to a genuine English accent - which he's obviously aiming for?

FYI, I was commenting on the accent itself and how Jake seems to have pulled it off, not about the semantics involving whether or not folk in Persia spoke with an English accent back then.

So calm the **** down, pretty please?

Sheesh................

I think he means compared to the voice of the game's Prince. It's pretty spot on.

Actually, I've never played the game but if you say Jake's got it spot on, that's good enough for me.

So in short, the game features an English accent and Jake not only seems to have pulled off an authentic accent, he's actually managed to also make it sound just like the videogame character he's playing.

There Blacklantern - is that any clearer?

:D

and this one is from n4g forums http://forums.n4g.com/Prince-of-Persia-m739387.aspx

Looks fun. Hope it turns out to be great. 150 million dollar budget for a video game movie is huge.

My favorite part is the music. So happy Harry Gregson-Williams is doing the soundtrack. Metal Gear Solid FTW!

this looks like it will be off the hook. THe Mummy status

Is the international trailer available in HD? 1080p?
