Prince of Persia:The Sands of Time

carrnutt, dude, lets just get over it. By continuing this, it will only get worse and more people will catch on.
ATP is a she not a he. She's entitled to her opinion, get over it already.

LOL

You're telling *me* to "get over it," when I'm just being reactionary here. What you're not realizing is I have NOTHING to "get over" on. I'm trying to get these politically-correct wannabes to justify their position, so they can justify why THEY can't "get over it," especially with the movie in post-production already.

No, by you constantly bringing this subject up even if they don't care for it much is making this thread suffer from redundancy. Okay, you don't need to get over it, just stop trying to put your opinion into theirs. They're not being hostile.

Opinion, whether good or bad, harmless or harmful around here seems to still get out of control.

ONE: "ATP" brought it up first.

TWO: "ATP" actually brought it up AGAIN.

THREE: "ATP" has been rebuked, and rebutted soundly on the very subject she repeated.

Wanna re-think who you're going to talk to about "constantly bringing it up," and "redundancy" again?

How exactly did I bring it up "again" All I did was explain that I hadn't been in this thread before to see the fact that this argument has occurred previously, and state that I saw the trailer a couple nights ago, which is what prompted me to comment in the first place. It's not even me arguing against anyone

If you're referring to this post

Man, I didn't mean to start a huge argument :csad: I just saw the trailer and thought, hmm, Jake looks silly. And not Persian or badass.

It's just explaining what prompted me to comment in the first place. No need to try to "pwn" someone who wasn't arguing anything from the start.

Now onto another subject. How about the director? Anyone think he has the stuff..

I think so...Mike Newell directed HP and the Goblet of Fire, he's also the director of Pushing Tin, 4 Weddings and a Funeral...so he's done a variety of things and he's done a LOT of TV....I tend to think that directors that come from TV understand pacing a lot better than most

hehehe

"..this feels like a bad Pirates of the Caribbean sequel in the middle east.."

the internet has given everyone a voice...Im still on the fence as to whether that's a good or a bad thing

No.

You were explaining how you were biased against the movie because of your own stereotyping of how Persians "should" look. It's a sign of a narrow and uneducated mind. Think of this as free schooling as I shock you into educating yourself about the world more, before you bring your pre-conceived notions into discussions where it doesn't belong.

Pay attention to what you wrote again:

Jake looks silly. And not Persian or badass.

Oy. This thread is clearly more serious than I could have ever anticipated. I was at the theater with Spoons. When we saw the trailer, he turned to me and whispered something along the lines of, "They couldn't even find a Middle Eastern actor and had to pick the whitest white guy? How rude and insulting." and I laughed and agreed. Clearly, humor and/or a light-hearted opinion that doesn't result in a huge debate is inappropriate in this thread, and next time I'll keep my thoughts between myself and my boyfriend.

If any Persians were offended, I apologize. My original comment did have to do with the fact that it IS unfair in film not to at least cast the nationality that a movie is about, but after I saw the huge argument resulting I attempted to apologize with some light-heartedness thrown in. Holy moly, never here again.

I agree with you and Spoons, entirely! Jake Gyllenhaal has no business playing this role. Great actor he may be, he just doesn't look the part what so ever.

How so? I haven't sat here "telling" anyone anything, and even apologized for starting other people arguing. Do I have to put "IMO" after everything? I even started it with "I thought." I've never been so baffled about being e-attacked in my life.

Too many people are uber-sensitive about ethnicity in hollywood movies. Don't worry about it.

go play Sands of Time and then look at Gylenhall....the characters are severely similar

she's throwing her opinion around like it's fact....that's the problem
Uhhhh....no. She's not.

And Project Pat, I don't see it. One man is clearly Persian and has a Persian air about him. The other guy is just a white guy in some crazy armor.
