jake looks exactly like the prince from the game
As a non-persian I'm happy that you are happy.as a persian im just happy they're making a high budget fun action movie that has to do with Persia

Maybe this will be a stepping stone to them making more movies about that general area and next time casting accordingly.
agreedif someone was making a picture involving a historical event in Persian history like the Greco Persian Wars and they cast a bunch of white actors, then it'd be a valid complaint
It wouldn't look so obvious if (at least from the trailer) the rest of the cast didn't look so Persian as opposed to white lol
why not? my iranian friends look like they could be brothers with jake. i think the biggest misconception here is that all iranians look like arabs, which is a huge insult to them^You know the Wolverine thing isn't the same.
agreedI think it's a valid complaint now.
Sure a white guy created the game and the Prince does look pretty white in the videogame but videogames and movies are too completely different things. Some people will laugh if you name a movie with humans, Prince of Persia and nobody is even remotely perisian in the flick. It's a funny and somewhat sad situation.
It's like naming something Black People Fight against Slavery and casting a whiteguy as the lead slave. You can't get mad at people for complaining about that, especially with hollywood's obessesion of whitewashing every single thing they get their hands on.
To them white people just couldn't stand to see a movie staring a non-white person. Maybe I'm a nieve black chick but I just have a hard time believing that white people cover their eyes in horror when a non-white person comes on screen.
It's freakin insulting and very typical of hollywood sadly.
I didn't say all anybody looked like anything.why not? my iranian friends look like they could be brothers with jake. i think the biggest misconception here is that all iranians look like arabs, which is a huge insult to them
ok gotcha. i thought the complaints were about him not looking right. i agree that jake isn't a box office draw, ive never really cared for him as an actor either. getting a persian would have been good just to give someone new a turn in the limelight.I didn't say all anybody looked like anything.
If Persians look just like white people, whats the harm in casting a Persian or somebody from that general area then? I love Jake and believe that he will do a good job but he isn't a big star. He doesn't exactly bring people out to the theaters. Hell, if Prince of Persia has a bad run at the boxoffice my point will be proven even more.
yupIt's just a safer gample. Especially when Disney is spending lots of money on a video game adaption. You use a good actor that alot of people know and is liked.

Jake looks silly. And not Persian or badass.
It's not your fault Pickles, you have a right to your opinion.
Doctor Jones is right, I think that we should drop the race arguement and just talk about the flick.
And I'd also like to thank him for standing up for me.He obviously actually read my posts.
How many times have you been pwned on this very point in this very thread? There were even pictures I posted of present-day, everyday Iranians from a hidden mall camera that were obviously Caucasoid. Not to mention actual Persians chiming in.
How many times do you have to be reminded that YOU are the one stereotyping when you spew crap like this?
I apologize to I SEE SPIDEY for the "whining" comment, but I am just extra-irritated that AndThePickles over here decided to jump in again with his lame stereotyping, when that particular discussion died down already. Not to mention he's re-hashing an old argument of his that got shot down many times already.
I SEE SPIDEY: I might have apologized to you for using the "whining" card, but I still challenge you to prove to me that what you are "voicing your opinion" over isn't any different than what's going in with foreign actors playing American parts.
