Prince of Persia:The Sands of Time

I wasn't a huge fan of her doing the voice over either but overall I still liked the trailer.

my only problem with her voice over is that it's not only long, but when she does actually speak dialogue to Jake, it sounds like it's a part of the monologue. if that makes sense.

Yeah. They didn't really bother to make a distinction.

I know exactly what your referring to. For me it had to do more with the intonation she chose to deliver her lines in.

It makes sense. Call me a cliche monster but I just like hearing movie-guy's voiceover during trailers so even if they had fixed those things you referenced, I still would have perfered she not narrate.

i agree spidey. it looks like its becoming a trend to complain about big budget movies like this. hey nothing wrong with that. if you dont like something and if you hate that its every year the same then fine. they all want something good and deep.

but i still stand by what i said. a lot of people from the forums only like to watch those big budget movies with huge promotion.because of the big promotion they find out about the movies. they dont care about the smaller movies. the movies that are focused 100% on characters and story. and i am not even talking about US only. there are some fantastic french movies. and sometimes i even like asian movies.

and i disagree with everyone who is trying to tell me that indiana jones movies are deep . just because you like something from your childhood that doesnt mean that you can come here on SHH and lie to me. indiana jones is a 100% adventure fun entertaining franchise. and the same with 2 and 3. i even liked a lot from the 4th movie. do you see me here talking how terminator 1 and 2 are oscar movies? i dont even think that LOTR should get all the oscars.

and the hypocrisy from star trek and iron man. i didnt read reviews about star trek. but i didnt watch it in may. so i only heard and read 100% positive word of mouth. then i watched the movie. i liked it. a 100% fun entertaining summer movie. but of course no. for fans it needs to be the maria magdalena. the movie is cliche .cliche cliche. but it works. characters are fun and the story is good enough for the reboot. but its cliche. if michale bay would direct the opening of ST everyone would complain how bad and cliche it is. when Bay directs a movie lens flares are bad. when JJ does it its better. the same with iron man. a f.... strypoer pole came out of the plane in the movie. i thought it was fun. but dont you dare telling me that you wouldnt complain if this happened in a Sommer,Bay or Lucas movie.

and its only a matter of time when fans will start complaining about Nolan. they aleady did when there was news about the realese date of batman 3. Nolan was a monster to them(joke). i expect an original different movie next year from him. you know this is what fans on forums want for the last 10 years. but when it will be different they wont like it.

i got this out of my system.

i agree that Prince of Persia is meant to be an entertaining escapism film. Of course, there are some stupid ones out there, but we shouldn't just group them together in the same category. I wouldn't want to group JJ Abrams' Star Trek or Iron Man with Transformers or G-Force. haha.

Yep and the girl is cute too. She was very likable in her small role in Quantum of Solace. Better than the lead female actually.

I'm surprised at how good Jake looks in the role. I didn't know rather he was going to do an accent or not so I was pleasantly surprised when I heard it.

Regarding the budget:

Every studio says that they spent 150mil on there big budget tentpole. Thats really the go-to number for those lying ass studios. The movie screams 200mil to me.

I still think they should move it away from the Sex And the City Sequel in order to actually make a dime off of it .

While you have a point of the studio hoping to have the female masses also going to watch PoP , isn't Sex And the City r rated
I could've sworn that the first one was R rated , not that the rating was a limiting factor.

When it comes to judging the budget , i'm always trying to compare movies in terms of similarity and/or the scale & VFX .
For example a movie like Batman Begins looks like a 150 million dollar movie to me based on the sets that were built etc. This also looks like a movie with big ass sets being built.
A better comparison is Kingdom Of Heaven.
thenumbers.com puts the budget at 110 million , BOMOJO at 130 million.
Add a serious VFX budget and you're looking a at least 180 million budget for PoP. ANd that's very generous IMO. I'm thinking the budget really is near the 200 million mark.

I apporve most of your rant Dark b.

Nerds look at some of the so-called classics with rose colored glasses. The Star Wars movies weren't intelligent, GhostBusters* wasn't intelligent, Superman* wasn't intelligent and neither was Jaws IMHO.

I suppose they were smart for what they were but they aren't high art and I'm tired of people pretending that they were.

I'm sorry to break the news to some people but they were gasp...BLOCKBUSTER SUMMER MOVIES or HOLIDAY MOVIES. Those movies were made to thrill and excite on the most basic level.

*As I've said before I don't like Superman or GhostBusters and don't find them to be smart even for summer movies but alot of people do so I'll include them.

It's R rated but it's still huge competition. They didn't get buff Jake G for no reason, they are hoping that atleast half their audience is female. Pirates and LOTR's thrived on the female audience, believe me.

the trailer is actually available in HD on ign.com but you have to find it because it's hidden away.

Yeah its in 1280X720 WMV. I want it on QT. I guess it shouldn't be to long anyway.

I wouldn't go as far as calling them 'so-called' either. They're mainstream classics, and a smart person would know that.

Ignore that word if you like. I'm not denying that most see them as classics, clearly most see them as classics.

People have different opinions than me and I except that.

I don't partically care for your last comment as I find it to be highly insulting...maybe I'm taking it the wrong way but thats the feeling right now...

While I don't understand your stance on Ghostbusters, I do have to say that Superman: The Movie has elements where it's magical but it also represents Superman's weakest public conception: that he's kinda boring.

With a silly Lex Luthor against him, I would rather see a live action version of max fleischer's version instead.

I think that's why Superman Returns gets all of that crap because there is refusal to actually prove the nay-sayers wrong and inviting new fans to join in the Superman mythos. Superman can be great when used correctly but so far on film, it's been..a mixed bag.

that actually was not my intentions. sorry :)

Meh, I'll give this a chance. I'm a huge fan of the games and of the storyline.

Anyone think this could possibly break the trend of bad video game films?

I still believe the best one is Silent Hill. Resident Evil, Hitman, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat(the first one is a guilty pleasure I suppose and the sequel is trash), Alone in the Dark, Bloodrayne, and Doom were flat out horrible.

If this can break the trend then there's hope for a great Zelda, Metal Gear, and God of War films.

I'm not sure...everyones barometer seems to be different for what makes a "good" video game film...I too liked Silent Hill, Res Evil, and the first Mortal Kombat

I think Zelda would work much much better as an animated film IMO

If Zelda is animated I'd care less about it. No reason for it to be motion capture. But if that is cheaper than live action I can see them going for that. I am not too impressed with Zemeckis' A Christmas Carol either. Zelda is too epic for motion capture. But I guess this Avatar technology will catch on sooner and later and it will get more realistic and cheaper with time so you never know.

Metal Gear would be awesome, so long as it's streamlined and just boiled down to focused themes.

How's God of War's story? I've never played a GoW game before. Been thinking about getting that new GoW Collection coming out.

Btw, I really enjoyed the trailer. It looked very promising. The Prince even sounds like The Prince from the game, so that was a pleasant surprise. I'm happy they didn't go the route that the NEW Prince of Persia game went.
