Prometheus - Part 2

We might see the early stages of the Xenomorph. Maybe the Space Jockey's haven't perfected it yet or something?

I can't wait to get a look at the creature(s) after reading the Giger comments.

As for Alien 3, I pretty much agree with Solidus but I did love the ending, it was tragic and bittersweet all at once, the perfect ending for the saga IMO.

This is definatley the movie I am looking most forward too in 2012. Hell, what is The Avengers, who needs this kids party if one can have a Ridley Scott space opera :D

Prometheus will overshadow The Avengers for me.

We don't know that yet either. Hell, the whole movie could be about the finding of the Alien.

It's all a ruse.

Okay, let me try another tack:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the Nostromo encounter considered First Contact? My memory is admittedly vague after several decades, but IIRC, in the first movie, there *were* no other aliens, of any sort, anywhere, known to man. Facehugger and Space Jockey were supposed to be the first that mankind had seen.

And if that's the case, having the crew of the Prometheus encounter them years before the Nostromo rapes the continuity of the film universe.

Unless none of the Prometheus crew make it out alive. Then the lack of knowledge of aliens in the first Alien film would remain intact.

Eh, it's okay, but not great. Even the AC. It's hand over fist better than AR, but my last viewing of Alien 3 when the blu came out, I still had problems with it, and it is not near as good as the first two.

I'm split on Hicks/Newts death. I understand that it was about loss, but we all know Fox did that because of the $$$$. I don't mind at all main characters dying, but the way they did felt too quick, and with out meaning. Alien 3 is a decent film, but not in the level of the first 2.

Agreed. It wasn't so much their death as it was happening too damn quick. It didn't feel organic to me. It felt like they died because the actors didn't return so they killed them off as a result of it.

I dislike Alien 3. I don't hate it, it's just underwhelming and not very interesting. It just seems they regressed after Aliens. Could have went much bigger with the advancement of the plot.

I don't know if its first contact. I always got the vibe Weyland-Yutani knew more then they were letting on. They consistantly attempt to obtain living Xenomorphs to use as biological weapons in the franchise.

I found Alien 3 boring. Seemed like a rehash of the previous two movies and it didn't introduce enough new elements to keep the franchise fresh or intresting for me. I do agree it added some more character development for Ripley but a sequel should expand a main character anyway.

Fincher did the best he could in the circumstances.

Alien 3 was a strangely asexual film, weird considering the franchise it comes from..

That could work, Alien could be the case of first recorded contact, gonna make the end of Prometheus a bummer though lol.

Well, Fassbender is an android, right? I could see him surviving, but being picked up by the Company for "processing".

just found out about this film.....

so.....has it been confirmed that this indeed is a prequel to the Aliens films?

I've been reading conflicting reports about that........

Its set in the Alien universe and features stuff from the Alien movies (Xenomorphs/Space Jockey?) but its an original story.

thanks.

not that familiar with alien lore.......but that shirt is a reference to the Weyland-Yutani corporation?

also, does that mean Prometheus will be set in the same universe as Predators?

Or its not in the same continuity.

Or nobody survives the encounter.

Probably not as most Alien fans and the director Ridley Scott like to think the AVP movies never happened so aren't cannon.
