Prometheus - Part 2

Well we gathered that the jockey chair was there from last week's pics. But now you can see a thing that resembles legs. Big legs. :p

It IS a prequel, and Scott never thought Cameron "ruined" the franchise. The hell did you get that from? They were WORKING on a new Alien movie right before Fox greenlighted AvP. They cancelled it because they knew the AvP movie would suck, and ruin the franchise.

Not to mention he visited Fincher on the set of Alien 3 and was very supportive of him.

Alien 3 was underrated IMO...it tried to be in the spirit of the 1st film. Doesnt surprise me he would have supported it.

It is great. Most of the hate i've seen for that movie is mostly just people butt hurt over Hicks and Newts death. But even though they were great characters, their deaths were shocking and helped show that Ripley's nightmare wasn't over. Loved the grim atmosphere of the film.

Eh, it's okay, but not great. Even the AC. It's hand over fist better than AR, but my last viewing of Alien 3 when the blu came out, I still had problems with it, and it is not near as good as the first two.

I'm split on Hicks/Newts death. I understand that it was about loss, but we all know Fox did that because of the $$$$. I don't mind at all main characters dying, but the way they did felt too quick, and with out meaning. Alien 3 is a decent film, but not in the level of the first 2.

Yeah I'm in the park that liked A3 as well. Nowhere near as much as the first 2 but it wasn't a bad movie.

The worse part of the movie is the dreadful use of CGI. That was the most disgusting and jarring part of the movie.

Fox didn't do it, Fincher did it. Because he wanted it to be his story. Not Cameron's.

And you mean the scene where the Alien's head blew up? Because that's the only bit of CGI in the film........

I don't think it was really Fincher's story lol. It was a mash up of a bunch of other stories for Alien 3. From even all the documentaries, it was their story, and he was getting pissed about a lot of it. Fincher was a young director for hire that they could control. I mean the man does not even want to be associated with that film what so ever. It was not his script, and it sounded like he had very little control over it.

Right. But he did want it to be his, or theirs, and not Camerons.

It's all a giant cluster****.

I was shocked when I watched the Quadrilogy extras that all the Alien action shots were done with rod muppets and old school optical rotoscoping.

I genuinely thought it was some dodgy early CGI haha.

I misspoke. Meant bad SFX not CGI.

The scene with the rod puppet and the horrible compositing with the chroma key background. That was pretty awful.

This. :funny:

Whaaaat?

I thought it was bad CGI as well.

Also, Alien 3 is great.

I officially love Alien 3: DC

It's best if you think of the film as a drama/thriller character study. In fact, the Ripley role had more development in it than the first two films.

Eh....nah lol.

I mean the film is good, and some of the stuff with Ripley is great, it was just the overall film had problems to me, the artistic design never thrilled me most of the other characters did not interest me. It was just overall the execution always seemed muddled compared to the others.

A good film, not great, but not near the level of the first two. However, not near as bad as AVP, AR and AVP.

It's like a fine wine. It gets better with age (the more I view it).

It's stayed the same for me, I never hated it, the AC helped it some, but it still does not do what the first two do for me.

It IS an Alien Prequel because it has Space Jockies in it. That makes it a prequel no matter how they spin it.

They don't want people to think of this movie as a prequel because the name Alien is not known as a quailty franchise any more. Scott wants to go back, and he finally found a way to.

Think of it this way:

Is Mork & Mindy a sequel to Happy Days? *Technically,* yes, because you've got a character who was created in Happy Days getting a spinoff. Is it set in the same era or milieu as Happy Days? Does it feature other characters from Happy Days? No and no. It is its own beastie. (And beastly it was.)

Callling Prometheus "an Alien prequel" misleads people into thinking it's going to be *about* everybody's favorite lovable, (face)huggable Xenomorph. And they'll be very mistaken.

We don't know that yet either. Hell, the whole movie could be about the finding of the Alien.

It's all a ruse.

Yes and no to us seeing the return of the Xenomorph as we know it.

This quote is more relevant than ever:

'I wish Ridley Scott had come back. He had said to me, "If we ever do another, you'll create a new monster." Working with him would have been wonderful - not a man with no experience. They told me that the Alien this time would be intelligent; it would be special. But, in the end, it was just a slimy creature.'

- H.R. Giger

I think Ridley still kept that mentality when approaching Prometheus.
