He had an illustrious but short lived career as a meme.

Prequel. Now I haven't really kept up with this movie. I only know it's directed by Ridley Scott. Is this a true prequel to the first Alien movie? Or is it an original story unrelated to the Alien movies?
So is it pretty much confirmed that the trailer was released with Girl with the Dragon Tattoo? And it's a prequel to Alien!?I thought it was it's own original story!
We never did find out what happened to Jonesy.![]()

Yeah, it has THE Space Jockey and THE derelict ship (well duh, because the SJ and its chair are inside it...) from Alien (1979) in it!i dont understand why fans are so defending that its not just a normal prequel.its about the f. space jockey for the love of god. if the space jockey was not inside the movie i would leave you alone. but it is about him.

I think it's because most prequels are films about the characters leading up to the original film. Well as you know none of the characters are in this movie nor are the aliens from the original. The common link though is the backdrop and some elements that will be delved in to this time around. So it really isn't a straight prequel if you say that then people that don't follow all the info in internet will go in thinking a younger Ripley would be in it or that they would be seeing the xenomorphs everyone is so familiar with.
I think many people, including me, disagrees with you. He's just part of the scenery in Alien and you never really think about him in the franchise. It is a character now though.
I'm sure many people like you notice and think about many details when seeing a movie but the common moviegoer was not wondering what that giant man sitting in the chair was all about while they were watching a movie about people being stalked and killed one by one in a spaceship. The existence of the being was just there and didn't do anything to the story of the movie therefor can't really be called a character in Alien.I think many people, including me, disagrees with you.

You don't count the Jockey as a character?
