Prometheus - Part 3

Body of Lies is possibly the most accurate and underrated Spy-Thriller ever made in Hollywood. Not to mention Leonardo, Mark and Russell were fantastic. Which led me to be shocked that this film got almost no attention from the typical movie go'er and critic.

Till this day, people (surprisingly) still don't know what tactics the CIA and NSA employ to get the job 'done'. The scene involving Omar (the innocent architect) and the fabricated terrorist attack (to lure out Al-Saleem) was masterfully executed. It's precisely the similar strategy/maneuver that intelligence agencies put into usage.

Yea i've never understood why Body of Lies is so underrated. It's a great film. It actually boggles the mind. Maybe the subject matter and how it's so accurately shown, including not sugar coating it for Americans, is the reason why.

For me though, Kingdom of Heaven Directors Cut is Scott's best film outside of Alien and Blade Runner. Stunning movie. Truly shows that Scott is unparalleled when it comes to creating worlds. The level of detail is just amazing.

I think audiences where fed up with movies about the middle east by 2008. Even though The Dark Knight had some pretty strong connotations with the real War on Terror, I think it resonated with audiences more because of Batman and Joker engaging in awesome grand scale ass kickery.

As I typed that the 60's show is playing in the background and Adam West just said "The night is darkest before the dawn Robin", I turned around to see them tied to a tree trunk about to get killed by jousting knights.

That's my line of thinking as well. It depicted the agencies' tactics so crudely truthful. Typical Americans usually tend to ignore cases revolving around Task Force 373, Blackwater (Xe), Economic Hitmen, Infraguard/Google/Facebook, etc anyway.

Agreed. Kingdom of Heaven is Ridley Scott's best film outside Blade Runner and Alien. The Director's Cut is just filled with stunning material.

To date, I believe Orlando's best role/performance has been Balian. Eva was also great as Princess Sibylla -- along with Norton, Neeson, Irons, Siddig, Gleeson, etc. Truly an A+ cast.

The soundtrack and cinematography were fantastic too.

Yea loved the soundtrack. It's also one of my favourite Ed Norton performances. Amazing work he did there without ever showing his face.

I thought Ridleys "Robin Hood" was an incredible Borefest. Therefore I am a bit hesistant to watch "Kingdom of Heavens". Should I give it a try even if I hated "Robin Hood?

Harry Gregson Williams always delivers when it comes to music.

Depends. Don't expect loads of action in the directors cut. It has got some awesome battle scenes but it's mainly about the characters.

It's about a billion times better than Robin Hood though.

Why seems everyone to be so confident of Prometheus? Its strange, it appears all people round here are 100% sure that Prometheus will be brilliant. I hope that as well. But can we know it now? No. We ve had a nice looking trailer and we have Ridley Scott doing SciFi again. But the movie still can turn out to be a stinker. lol.

Well i don't think it will turn out to be a stinker, there is just too much talent involved. But it could turn out to be underwhelming, disappointing after all the hype.

It's hard not to be hyped for this though really. Everything i've seen and heard makes me believe this could be one of those true masterpieces. And i love sci fi like this, that poses questions and makes you think about ****.

Scott is one of the best at having different layers to his films, themes and commentaries, but without it becoming too on the nose or getting in the way of the story and characters. Blade Runner is still the best at that for me.

Honestly, I don t even need Xenomorphs in this film. I don t unterstand why all fanboys whine and cry for them...I mean, all I want is a good SciFi Flick wether it has Xenomorphs or not. It will have Space Jockeys, isen t that enough?

There's really no evidence of this whatsoever. Quit trying to stir up negativity for the sake of negativity, without evidence.

APRIL!? This is really annoying- the film is out in few months, and still no proper trailer? WTF!?

I've noticed with hit and miss films they leave the trailers until the last minute, this is not a good sign.

Don't get me wrong I got faith because it's Ridley and I love the Weyland Viral but it's not enough, I'm sorry. Can they just give us something that starts a buzz, because this is only getting excitable with the fans and the ones knowledgeable of the series.

Prometheus has actually got alot of press coverage already. I've read numerous magazines, web pages, newspapers and so on mention Promethues as one to look out for this summer.

It was on Msn, Yahoo, Entertainment weekly and other websites top ten movies of the summer to look out for.

No movie is a certain success or failure before its released. Some people are excited for Prometheus thats not a bad thing.

May is wayyy too late for the final trailer. Prometheus comes out in June. I'm predicting early April is the target for the final stretch of the marketing.

I think you've answered your own question. As people have already said, while there certainly are no guarantees those two things alone [highlighted in bold] are reason enough for just a bit of good ol' fashioned positivity, until such a time that we see or hear otherwise.

Personally, I could equally ask why a person would seem so pessimistic towards Prometheus..........

It seems too early to tell if Xenomorphs will be in the movie or not. And that seems to be an aspect of it deliberately being kept secret.

I doubt we'll see any Xenomorphs. I hope not anyways. I'm fine with this being it's own thing.

I guess we'll see for sure when this is eventually out, the wait isn't much longer.

There's also the fact that this has a truly stellar cast. None of these guys are lightweights, and they wouldn't have approached the material if they didn't genuinely believe in it.
