Prometheus - Part 8

You mean when they see Weyland in person for the first time?

It's a little hazy, but I seem to recall them acting kinda surprised, but at the same time they seemed to expect it. Like if you were told Lindsay Lohan was in rehab again or something. :o

Yeah that was the scene. David looked surprised but didn't seem to give much of a crap that she just had an alien baby removed from her :p the same goes for the other people in the room.

That bothered me too. But some people have said they were expecting it and it didn't surprise them. Also that it had been neutralized so no more attention was paid to it.

This movie can be summed up by Will Farrell in Blades Of Glory "No one knows what it means, but it's provocative, Gets the people going" :cwink:

My problem wasn't with the plot, or flaws or ambiguity, my problem was with the obvious shoe horned in Alien sections and there weren't enough of them to ruin the movie for me.

It's a little strange (to me) why I was able to go with Prometheus but I wasn't able to go with Inception. Inception lost me in act 2 and didn't get me back again. Couldn't connect to the characters or themes and I did give it a second viewing, but nope, not for me. Prometheus has far more problems but it had me hook line and sinker, I guess it just comes down to personal preference.

This.

God damn this movie has some bad writing. A great deal of the 'meaning' people are getting from this is there own projection. It's written like a horoscope in that sense. Ridely doesn't even know what planet we see at the beginning. We're lucky we didn't just get 2 hours of Christian propaganda. This movie has way too many dumb moments to be considered as smart as it is by some people.

I like the stubborn defense that the movie is good because "people are talking about it." All that really means is there was a lot of plot-holes, ambiguous scenes and unanswered questions. Lots of confusingly bad movies get people talking; it doesn't mean they're good.

Is it not possible to just let people enjoy the movie and leave it at that?

Am I preventing others from enjoying the movie? I didn't know I had that kinda power. Sorry if I hit a nerve, but this is a thread to discuss the film and that's exactly what people are doing. Doesn't mean the discussion has to be 100% positive and one-sided. You can continue loving the movie and skip over my posts. I don't care. But I'm not going to stop stating my opinions, thank you.

I'm still going to watch this. A lot of people dislike Alien 3, but for me it's right up there with the first 2 Movies. So maybe I'll enjoy Prometheus too.

THe fact is, you can deconstruct any film and complain about what it did wrong or what you didn't like if you just try hard enough.

That's true. But with this movie you don't have to try very hard.

can the engineer's breath outside of their ship and temple?

But still, there are aspects that some people may like while others may find unecessary, for example, some of the answers left out of the film were probably to set up the sequel or for people to wonder about. Some may see it this way, while others may not like this decision, that's probably why the opinions of this film are very split

Watched this bad boy for a second time yesterday.

I really like it now, oddly. I semi enjoyed it the first time, but hated on it for it's on/off Alien continuity, but now the film seems more grounded to me.

The second viewing deff makes the film better because you go in expecting everything already and not hoping to see more Alien references.

The only thing I still don't like is how it takes place on a different planet as Alien, as i would have liked this to really set up the film.

Or its just poorly written. I have no problem with stuff being left for a sequel but this just has plot holes and I'm not even trying to find them. When I notice them then they are bad and writing is not good because I never notice them. This movie reminded me a lot of Snow White and the Huntsman. Fantastic trailers, average movie

Or people just enjoy the movie and want to talk about it rather then pick things apart and suck the enjoyment out of everything.

Yeah!!!

Honestly, if they had this movie on the same planet as Alien, it would make this movie soo much better and it would have created even more mystery as to how the Space Jockey in Alien had a hole in it's chest and how it got there etc.

the only people i've heard that have a problem with the movie seem to be forum geeks. I don't hear the same complaints from people in person.

T2 - possibly the best action movie ever made.

They clearly establish the T-1000 assimilates anything he comes into physical contact with.
T-1000 pokes his finger right through Sarah's shoulder and says 'call to John...'

why? You can now just call to John yourself.

There is no perfect movie the question is 'were you entertained?'.
