At the recent press day for the Prometheus Blu-ray, Bleeding Cool learned from Charles De Lauzirika, who worked on the special features, that Fox wanted an extended edition of the film. However, Scott refused because the theatrical version is his “Director’s Cut”. The Blu-ray will still feature 35 minutes of altered, extended, and deleted scenes, but Scott didn’t want to edit them back into the movie. I can respect that. Furthermore, just because there’s more material, it doesn’t mean that making Prometheus longer would fill in any plot holes.

Thats a shame, from what I have heard some of the deleted scene's being added back would make the movie a better experience, and as someone who already loved the movie, I was looking forward to that.

At the same time time, I am glad they arent doing a double dip, although there is really nothing stopping Fox doing an extended edition.

Yeah, it's strange that FOX asked and even listend to Scott and didn't release a DC, especially since people are asking for it.

Its weird how Ridley is picky about which of his films gets a director's cut (Blade Runner, Kingdom Of Heaven, Robin Hood.)

Shame Gladiator didn't get the Director's Cut seal of approval. I thought the Extended version was superior to the beloved theatrical version because it filled in some gaps and more character development.

Sooner or later they will release a DC cut or alternative cut of the movie with Sir Ridley's blessing or not. Fox loves them dollar dollar bills y'all.

I ordered this from Amazon with Prime 2day shipping on the 7th..but for some reason it wont be arriving till friday. weird.

I like most of his writing, but Lindelof really is a pretty big Dick Grayson.

Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse gave me a great Comic-Con moment, so I can never be too mad at them.

I also love the DVD work by Charles de Laurzirika. One of the most unsung heroes in the business.

Just picked up the 3d blu ray version for $21 at best buy (pretty good deal), very interesting movie cant believe i didnt see this in theaters.

Picked this up today. Haven't seen it yet so I can't wait. But I also picked up Dishonored. Decisions.

After watching the special features, that clip I showed earlier that explains a lot more. I really liked Prometheus even more. I think this is a film that will continue to grow on people.

It still could have used script polishing, and some different actors for some of the secondary characters. But overall this is a very good sci-fi. I do really hope for Paradise soon.

I'm saying this in all seriousness...

They should've gotten Tom Hardy for Halloway and Christian Bale for Fifield. :o

One thing that made much more sense, was why it's not LV-426 for a few reasons. And actually it does explain how the derelict got there but not in a straight forward way.

First how the derelict got there on LV-426 is simple, on LV-223 it was clear there was an outbreak, many of the engineers were killed and had chestbursters pop out and kill them all. There are hundreds of ships on this planet. One got impregnated, tried to escape and take off, somewhere on his journey near LV-426 he gave birth, killing him and crashing the ship on LV-426. The engineer outbreak was stated in Prometheus that it happened two thousand years ago. Which coincides with Alien, when Dallas says it's fossilized and has been dead a long time. 2000 years not 30. It was clear from the look of everything it had been dead a while. So to me it's self-explanatory "now..I admit I did not get this at first."

On top of that LV-426 could not be the place they made in LV-223 for a few reasons. LV-223 had to be bigger, because this place hand tons of these installation and ships, on such a small planet such as LV-426 everyone would have found that stuff right away, especially in Aliens and you know where it would go from there. I never thought of that either, making it LV-426 would have been the wrong choice. Originally I was pissed they did not make it LV-426, but first it would have made no sense, and Prometheus actually does explain how in a very light way, but does explain what 99.9% happened. An outbreak, one tried to escape, gave birth crashed the ship.

The 4 hour Furious Gods featurette really aids the film for those who didn't love it or have a liking the first time.

They really...really...REALLY set forth ridiculous effort to create this project and as I watch these behind the scenes features, I begin to realize something. This movie will have more appreciation by people years down the line.

Never seen so much effort in behind the scenes footage in years. SEVEN damn hours!

There may have been some narrative issues but this will have special value down the line, I'm assured now.

I think it will very much be like Blade Runner in that regard.

I say yes and no with that. I think it will be much more appreciated like Blade Runner (maybe even more so if they make Paradise). However, I think with some of it's flaws, I don't know if it will ever be seen as a huge masterpiece of sci-fi like Blade Runner.

However, I do people will see it in a different light as years go on.

Quick reply....

There were waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too many times when I went... "why the hell did he/she do that?"

And not in the cool Friday the 13th way where I'm talking at the screen telling the character's they are stupid.

I wont deny they are stupid, but if you listen to what Vickers says and the resson why Weyland went there it makes sense. The expedition was a distraction and excuse from Weyland's goal of obtaining immortality. Weyland didnt give two ****s if they were good or competent scientists. They were a means to an end and anyone willing to come along would do as long as they could do what he needed them too.

For much of the movie you are paying attention to the one hand (scientists and Shaw) while the other hand (vickers and weyland) are doing their thing. Once you realize the true agenda and whats really going on it makes more sense. This definitely is movie that needs a rewatch.

That's exactly what I'm hoping for and expecting.

I think Ridley would of cast Tom Hardy if he wasn't busy making other movies at the time.

Hardy went to the Prometheus premier in London and had dinner with Ridley. Black Hawk Down reteam FTW :woot:
