Ridley works very fast his like Clint Eastwood he can just bang movies out efficiently.
Ridley has been averaging almost a movie a year over the last decade. Most filmakers take atleast 18 months between movies.
I think the problem Ridley has lately is he seems to completely change his mind on a movie his working on like how Robin Hood was supposed to be about the Sheriff of Nottingham being the good guy and Robin Hood the bad guy or how Prometheus was originally a straight up Alien prequel instead of a spin off/prequel.
Those extra six months other directors have could very well be spent locking down the story. I've just written a novel and realised when coming to the end that it wasn't about what I originally thought it would be. Only difference is I didn't talk about it until completion, so didn't set expectations then deliver something else.
In short, I agree. I just think Ridley says too much too soon.
This film needs a sequel. I'm not one to always want them. I enjoy one-offs but Prometheus had a few nods to the future and, in my opinion, isn't good enough to stand alone.
