WHOOOHOOOOOOOSet pictures leaked:
We know already that Fox is attending Comic-Con & that the Studios will be presenting Prometheus as one of its upcoming titles there. Well now it seems that we may get more than a panel discussion with cast and director, we may finally get an early glimpse at Ridley Scott's Epic sci fi behemoth. Hit the jump for the details.
According to IGN, Fox's Prometheus event will include a "Film presentation":"3:15pm-4:30pm: 20th Century Fox Film Presentation (Hall H): Prometheus, In Time and Rise of the Planet of the Apes"This is great news although if you are attending be advised to go early as Breaking Dawn also have a Panel discussion in Hall H and that area will be FUBAR. SOSD also are dropping the line that Prometheus footage will be previewed. We also have the "first looks" spiel via the official Comic Con programme:"3:15-4:30 20th Century Fox At past Comic-Cons, 20th Century Fox has previewed Independence Day, X2, Avatar, and X-Men Origins: Wolverine. You won't want to miss the excitement this year, as Fox presents first-looks at some of its most-anticipated pictures of 2011 and 2012. Hall H"
The director confirmed that Iceland will not play the starring role in Promethius: It will be 15 minutes in total, if all goes to plan. We are shooting the beginning of time.
Scott says the secrecy is important to him and film fans alike: There is a lot of innovative and new stuff in the film and it would be a shame to ruin that [surprise] with leaks.
Iceland was confirmed as a filming location somewhat late in the day, despite always having been a probable choice. It is possible to find similar landscapes elsewhere in the world, Scott explained. But here it is so rough and Jurassic-like and that proved decisive. Iceland is a massively beautiful country.

http://www.ropeofsilicon.com/articl...tt-h-r-giger-working-major-project-prometheusRidley Scott's film crew has set up shop in Iceland where they will be shooting portions of Prometheus and Icelandic newspaper Morgunbladid (via Alien Prequel News) had a chance to speak with Scott about the project and why he chose Iceland as a location for the shoot. He told the paper (translated via Google):"It is possible to get this environment elsewhere, such as the Mojave desert in California, but this place is more primitive and wild I think. Nature here has a certain character and I like the black rocks. It was a better option. Being here is fantastic, really fantastic. What I have found in this country is a gorgeous beauty. This is exactly what I wanted from the beginning."H.R. Giger, who designed the Alien in Scott's 1979 Alien as well as the Derelict and the Space Jockey, of which the central story for Prometheus is said to center, Scott spoke of the artist's involvement in Prometheus:
"We had a good relationship with Giger for many years. We showed him the script for [Prometheus] and he liked it. He's going to work a bit for me with this movie and has been working on a major project that comes in the picture."
Ridley Scott: "We are shooting the beginning of time.

I read about this on Aint It Cool News and I love what Scott said about the intitial reports of the volcanic eruption not scaring him one bit. Not even mother natures most powerful weapons can deterr him. Man's committed lol.
I would follow Ridley Scott to film at an erupting volcano. But I'll have to wait 20 years and follow Doc Jones instead.

Tipster Reynir Pálsson directed our attention to an interview with Ridley Scott with Gunnþórunn Jónsdóttir of the Icelandic news service mbl.is. More importantly, he provided a hugely helpful translation of what Scott was saying into English, and here are the highlights:
- The article's translated title is "Origins of aliens in Iceland"Thanks again to Reynir for this awesome tip!
- They are filming about 12-15 mins of on screen footage for the film on location near the "Hekla" volcano on the south coast of Iceland.
- The scenes that that are being filmed will be primarily be in the beginning of the film and involve the creation of the world. (It is kinda hard translating the "creation of the world" sentence but it might also imply the creation and/or origin of the Space Jockeys' first engineering attempts...or their homeplanet/home base... kind of vague but the direct translation is "world.")
- Production facilities have been set up near Hekla volcano and it currently has around 200 employees, around 100 of them Icelandic.
- They did look at other locations including the Mojave Desert but ultimately decided that the "rough and pristine" landscape near Hekla was the ideal spot and would suit the location and the atmosphere perfectly.
- H.R Giger has been involved form the start and is working on (translated quote) "... a big piece for me on this film."
- Ridley drops this as well (translated quote): "It will not be a direct link to the Alien movies but around the third act, you will start to see some relations/connections. I could explain to you how this scene plays out but that would be a shame. We go back in time, not forward."
- Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender, Idris Elba, Guy Pierce, Logan Marshall-Green, Kate Dickie and Sean Harris are confimed for the movie and Ridley mentions that Noomi, Charlize, Michael, Idris, and Logan will be on location.
