If it is PG-13 thats like a 12 here in the UK

It needs to be R and I'll tell you why

Not for the gore, this isn't a Saw type movie, but for that uneasy and dark tone of making something uneasy.

Language, in tense situations people swear, we nee to have people swearing otherwise its not realistic

The MPAA now rates movies based on tone. So for example, if I did a movie with almost PG level language, violence, and situations, but set it entirely in a old rusty power plant, with dark, spooky lights, and film it very monotone, it could still be R.

So it just depends on what Scott does. Do I want PG-13? No. But at the same time, It's a price to pay for the redemption of this series. Since it's not a stictly Alien movie, I'm alright with it.

I could be wrong but I don't remember much cursing at all in Alien.

I dont see why making it R over PG13 would necessarily make it a better movie.

Agreed. A rating doesn't make a film good or bad. Both AVP movies were bad. One was PG-13 and the other was R. The R-rated movie was even worse.

It depends what Ridley Scott is shooting for. Hopefully he's not shooting for a rating and just shoots his vision. If the movie ends up getting rated PG-13 when it's all said and done then there's nothing wrong with that.

One of the scariest movies is Jaws. Rated PG in its day (it would probably receive a PG-13 today).

i think thats the main reason why they changed the film from an ALIEN prequel to an original sci-fi movie thats just set in the same universe, Fox know that people won't accept a PG13 true ALIEN film...

John Hyams. The man took a franchise that was never good, Universal Soldier, two washed up former stars, next to no budget, and made a truly badass flick. He knows how to shoot action coherently, with tension, with clear choreography, and he got effective performances out of guys not known for their acting chops. And he somehow managed to give a Universal Soldier movie a great sense of tone and atmosphere.

And that was his debut feature. This man would annihilate with a Terminator movie. Hollywood, I hope you're paying attention.

Best action director working today... and he's only made one film. He's a huge inspiration to me.

Well, how much did the sets cost to make? Because that probably could account for a fair amount of the budget.

Regardless, just the simple fact that it's Ridley Scott doing a sci-fi flick will be enough to get people see this.

Neal Scanlan is on board the Prometheus

Creature animatronics guru, Neal Scanlan, has been added to the Prometheus production crew according to IMDB and the Neal Scanlan Studio website.

Scanlan is attached as a Creature and Special Make-up Effects Supervisor according to IMDB.

Best known for his Oscar winning visual effects in Babe in 1996, he was one of the founding members of the Jim Henson Creature Shop where he worked as an Animatronics and Creative Supervisor.
Before leaving the Jim Henson Organisation in 1996, he had worked on titles such as Labyrinth, Little Shop of Horrors and The Witches.

In 1996 he formed Neal Scanlan Studios which went on to work on animatronics, special make-up and prosthetic effects for a string of movies and TV-series, including Tim Burton's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Sweeney Todd to name a couple.
